Copyright[edit]

The information you are concerned about comes from Arts NB (artsnb.ca), a New Brunswick public-funded government arts agency. The information you've hidden is freely available to the public, and has been sent out in press releases to newspapers for republication. What you think is the property of the online magazine Bread 'n Molasses is simply a press release from Arts NB, meant for public consumption. There is no copyright problem. I don't know why someone would think there was. I submitted the information myself from the Arts NB website, with minor editing.

Here is a typical press release from the Arts Board (this one from 2009), followed by relevant links to their site: <snip> http://artsnb.ca/site/en/files/2013/01/DESC_LG_E.pdf

Hello. There is a difference between being available to the public and public domain. The government of Canada reserves copyright in its content, and we would need evidence that Arts NB does not to retain material, even if issued in press releases. As our copyright FAQ notes:

Occasionally, the question is raised about the copyright status of press releases. While press releases are by nature intended to be reproduced widely, there is no inherent permission to alter them or create derivative works based on them, or to use them for commercial purposes. Accordingly, press releases are handled like other copyrighted content. In the absence of explicit disclaimer or permission, these may not be freely reproduced.

If Arts NB would like to issue an explicit disclaimer or permission, they are welcome to do so. They can either place it on their website or send an email to the Wikimedia Foundation; please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials if you are affiliated with Arts NB or Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission if you are not.
In the meantime, we are not able to publish that text, I'm afraid. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 12:08, 25 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
