Algorithm[edit]

I am the original author of this page. I added it because I could not find a suitable algorithm for converting dates to/from their lilian values.

After considerable effort, I devised an alogorithm on my own and added it to Wikipedia so that others may benefit from it.

Please DO NOT delete the algorithm

Your algorithm is an example of how to calculate the Lilian date from the Gregorian date and vice versa. But Wikipedia is not a how-to manual, saying so in WP:NOT#HOWTO. Thus your algorithm is not allowed on Wikipedia. — Joe Kress 19:08, 4 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It does not matter whether the Lilian date cannot be calculated from the Julian day number or not, a how-to section is still not allowed on Wikipedia. Two compromises are possible, an external link to your site containing the algorithm, or you may place the algorithm on Wikibooks, possibly with a cross-link here (I'm not sure whether this would be prohibited by the Wikipedia non-self reference guideline). — Joe Kress 21:15, 7 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Your most recent edit deleted the reference and see also sections. This approaches vandalism. Your various <wiki/...> tags are not recognized by Wikipedia software, so they appear as annoying text. To properly hyperlink Wikipedia articles see Wikipedia:Manual of Style (links) for the proper tags ([[...]])), which were originally in the article. — Joe Kress 20:05, 8 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
