Install: Size[edit]

Now what size of HDD does this like to sit on i want to install it on a CF so i can change it with other LINUX OSs depending on my feel, Knoppix, KnoppMYTH and GeeXBox for some.

I brought a Front Loading IDE CF. Just need to know the sizes each of these OS like to sit on. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by AngelLaHash (talkcontribs) 14:45, 30 March 2007 (UTC).[reply]

In principle any size bigger than a couple of gigs willdo for the OS. You'll need much more for your recordings, of course. I have 120 gigs in toto in my box and that's typically considered the bare minimum. People have used raided arrays of up to a couple of terabytes...

Merge this article with MythTV[edit]

I'm going to remove the suggestion to merge this article with MythTV. Knoppmyth is a totally different product than MythTV. There is no logical reason to merge these two articles —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.20.15.182 (talk) 01:26, 2 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think merging this article with Mythtv is a good idea. It should be a subtopic Linux distros with mythtv already preloaded and configured. The only advantage is the original Linux that Mythtv is incorporated with. One subtopic could cover all these three KnoppMyth, Mythbuntu, MythDora and then if one wants do know about Knoppix, Fedora Core , or Ubuntu they can go to those articles.
I second the merge. Much of the info on front-end/back-end installations are literal copies from other Myth-derivative distribution articles. In response to the 'unsigned' above: There is a logical reason to merge these two articles. That reason being if we remove the duplicated front/back-end sections from this article (as it can be considered a 'lowest common denominator' of all Myth-etc articles), this article would become a short stub and offer very little information beyond what the a user could assume from the title. --Cybersavior (talk) 03:01, 25 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I don't see the harm in repeating information from other articles. It might seem "obvious" to you which information from other articles applies. But many readers of this article would be bewildered and overwhelmed to look at the other articles about the general distros and sort out exactly which parts are and are not applicable in this specific context.-71.174.182.123 (talk) 12:04, 26 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I *oppose* merging, at this time, because I fear that if the articles on the various "full" versions of MythTV are merged into the MythTV article, there will be too much pressure to be too brief about the details of each separate version.-71.174.182.123 (talk) 12:04, 26 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Move this site to LinHES[edit]

Shouldn't this article be moved to LinHES? --79.224.228.156 (talk) 19:29, 31 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The article appears to have been moved to LinHES in September 2013. Snowman (talk) 14:44, 22 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Edit history[edit]

From the article and the early edit history of the LinHES article, it looks like the article at LinHES is a substantial update/review of the article that was at KnoppMyth (now a redirect to this page). The edit history of the article needs fixing.

Tone of writing[edit]

This article feels like an ad. I'm sure I'm not the only one that feels this way, specifically in This section. I should be reading unbiased facts, not a sales pitch. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.62.232.182 (talk) 19:59, 10 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Status of LinHEs[edit]

What is the actual status of LinHES? Has it been abandoned? since two years now (date of the post) have not been any activities not any updates/upgrades. 2A02:908:1E7:4A60:7D07:D713:6223:F818 (talk) 14:29, 12 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
