I read somewhere that the reason that Japanese tourists tend to take photos with themselves or their companions in frame is that the Japanese tend to learn verbs first and therefore view their world in terms of their relationship to it, whereas westerners tend to learn nouns first and so think more in objective terms. Adding and Editing[edit]

Considering there is a very thorough page written on about this under the term Sapir-Whorf hypothesis. I want to add some categories that may help this page evolve into an ongoing research and applications article, since the article I mentioend pretty much covers the history and genreal gist of the hypothesis and implications.
