The article needs some prose fixed up (see specific comments below), but otherwise meets the GA criteria.

Lead[edit]

  • I suggest wikilinking sexist and feminist in the lead, because they are key themes in this episode.
  • "The episode's plot is based on the Teen Talk Barbie line of talking dolls..." Suggest changing "is based on" to "was inspired by"
  • "Kathleen Turner guest starred in the episode as Stacy Lovell." -> "...as Stacy Lovell, creator of Malibu Stacy."
  • Any chalkboard gag for the infobox?

Plot[edit]

  • "... but the creators of Malibu Stacy view Lisa's doll as a real threat, and plan to sink it." Sink it is a colloquial expression that should be replaced. Also, clarify what kind of "threat" the doll represents. Isn't Stacy Lovell Malibu Stacy's original creator? If so then the sentence is somewhat contradictory. Please clarify or reword.

Production[edit]

  • "Malibu Stacy had appeared many times on the show before this episode as the name of Lisa's doll." The sentence construction is awkward.
  • "... and Oakley suggested an episode revolving around the Malibu Stacy company." Change idiomatic "revolving around" to "involving"
  • "...it led to criticism from the American Association of University Women because it was deemed to be demeaning to women." Insert underlined phrase (or something similar) for NPOV.
  • Am wondering why only Oakley's picture is in the article when co-writer Josh Weinstein's picture is also available.
  • "...and because he and Oakley gets to use dictionaries..." gets -> get
  • "...Oakley's wife Rachel Pulido was a big Barbie collector." Change the colloquial use of "big" to something like "prolific" or "enthusiastic".
  • "Oakley therefore spent a lot of time going to Barbie conventions across the United States and got to meet all sorts of different collectors." "got to meet" -> met; "all sorts of" -> many
  • "... inspired the part of the episode were Lisa visits Smithers... " were -> where
  • "Turner showed up at the recording studio at 9:00 in the morning to record her lines." Why is this relevant or notable?
  • "Mirkin thought she looked "great"..." Relevance?
  • ...and he thought she was one of the best performances they had ever had on The Simpsons." how about "she had one of the best performances ever on The Simpsons."

I couldn't help but add Weinstein's picture (I reduced the size of both and used the double image template). Had a vision of him reading the article and being pissed about his picture not being there :) Sasata (talk) 18:20, 9 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
