Did You Know
A fact from this article appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the "Did you know?" column on May 3, 2009.
The text of the entry was: Did you know ... that Queen Latifah's rendition of "I'll Be Seeing You" from the Broadway musical Right This Way during the 81st Academy Awards In Memoriam tribute was the annual tribute's first vocal accompaniment?

Omissions[edit]

Several other notable individuals, including George Carlin (six-time Emmy Award nominee), Bernie Brillstein (nine-time Emmy Award nominee), Neal Hefti (Emmy Award nominee) Beverly Garland (Emmy Award nominee), Estelle Getty (Emmy Award and Golden Globe Award winner),

Estelle Getty (of Golden Girls) died in 2008 and was honored in 2009 Academy Awards Program. It was Bea Arthur that died in the recent past year and was overlooked by the Academy.

Accurate list?[edit]

I was looking at the 2009 Oscars In Memoriam video on You Tube and it seems that some of the people on the list of this article page were not mentioned at all. Ricardo Montalban certainly wasn't. Is this list actually sourced from the Awards ceremony itself? I have a feeling that editors have simply added people who have died to it regardless of whether the Academy honoured them or not. We should only be using names that were actually mentioned on the night itself. 80.47.11.146 (talk) 14:22, 11 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
