Merger with individual character articles[edit]

None of the characters that are specific to Bad Girls are sufficiently notable to justify their own articles. As such, the following articles should be merged here: Zandra Plackett, Sylvia Hollamby, Rachel Hicks, Jim Fenner, Shell Dockley, Natalie Buxton, Yvonne Atkins, and Costa Cons. I have added some information to Jim Fenner. This is list needs work if characters are to be merged. I noticed that Jim Fenner was "merged" into this list - but I do not think that was correct as it was redirecting the page with little effort. Some of those characters are appear to be notable from google search results - so it might be worth looking into that before deciding.Rain the 1 22:02, 18 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Bad Girls was a very popular programme, and many people may want to read about the characters, the 'list of characters' page provides very little information. A merge would be okay as long as information is kept and not just an actual list. User:Reli source 23:26, 23 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I have searched for reliable, secondary sources for each of these characters and none of them seems to have a sufficient amount of coverage for individual articles. I am willing to put the effort into merging the articles here while preserving more content. As it seems that everyone who has contributed to this discussion is OK with a merger so long as the content of the articles is preserved, I will try to start working on that shortly. I have many more to add to Jim some time. I've collected sources for Shell Dockley and they'd make for quite a fact filled article. Sylvia, Yvonne and Natalie have potential too. Rachel, Costa Cons and Zandra are the ones who turned up very little. I'd suport merging those. Obviously the problem with the remaining ones I'd keep is - who will add the information? I do not mind doing some, I haven't the time to add the information to all at the moment.Rain the 1 00:06, 28 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

My reason for wanting to merge the articles here is not that they aren't sufficiently well-developed but that I haven't been able to find a sufficient number of reliable, secondary sources. If you have such sources, simply deposit them on the corresponding articles. Then, we can merge the remaining articles here. How do you think the articles should be merged? The table format should be used for minor characters of the show, the other characters should have a subsection, but the ones with sources should still be able to keep their individual articles, as a fan of the show and having only rewatched i, I will help provide information, but just remember some of us have put the effort in to creating and developing these articles, and you redirecting them to that shoddy page with the table format was rather brazen, Wikipedia should be for everybody not just you Reli source (talk) 20:27, 1 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I would be appreciative if we would all keep our comments to those about article content rather than about contributors, per Wikipedia policy on the subject. We are all working to improve the project. Your suggestion to maintain the table while also having separate sections for major characters makes sense to me. You cleary stated above that you could not find any reliable sources. I just added over 70 sources news sources to Shell Dockley's talk page - ranging from interviews useful for casting, characterisation and devepment, character reviews and awards. News source including Guardian, US and Australian sources. I think someone should carry out a search on the remaining characters. A quick whip around for Yvonne Atkins pulls up many. I do not think merging is correct, they just need someone willing to put in the effort.Rain the 1 23:07, 2 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You have done an amazing job at finding sources for Shell Dockley! Apparently, I wasn't looking in the right places. Considering that you were able to find so many, I am willing to trust your judgement that Sylvia, Yvonne, and Natalie all have significant coverage as well. If there are no objections, I will merge Rachel Hicks, Costa Cons, and Zandra Plackett to this list and create a section for each of the other characters to link to their articles.
