List of Bandai Namco franchises[edit]

Hi there, I was thinking about creating a page dedicated to Bandai Namco-developed franchises in a similar style to List of Sega video game franchises, since Bandai Namco has enough of them to warrant itself an article, at least in my opinion. I managed to crank out a draft on this page. What are your thoughts on this? Namcokid47 (talk) 18:36, 9 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

This is amazing, publish it right now! Truth be told, I'm surprised that there hasn't already been a page dedicated to List of Bandai Namco franchises. Though remember to emphasise that this is the combined list of Bandai and Namco franchises after the merger. Iftekharahmed96 (talk) 20:48, 9 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I'm on it. I'm adding a few more and add some more info on Bandai Namco. Namcokid47 (talk) 21:43, 9 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Done. Feel free to add or remove any entries that qualify or don't qualify respectively, if needed. Namcokid47 (talk) 23:48, 9 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Sergecross73, Dissident93, Ferret, and The1337gamer: I'm pinging you guys about the newly created article List of Bandai Namco franchises. This is going to be an article with a lot of potential vandalism, so it's safe to have as people watching over it as possible. Iftekharahmed96 (talk) 10:08, 10 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Will it? Not sure if this will be even edited outside of the usual editors and the occasional random IP. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 20:59, 10 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
There isn't really anything else to add to the list anyway since I pretty much finished everything. Might be wrong though, Namco has a bunch of subsidiary companies that could have a treasure trove of them. Namcokid47 (talk) 01:15, 11 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
You'd be surprised, there's been some vandalism with the Bandai Namco franchises and Konami franchises navigation boxes so it's better to be safe than sorry. And seeing as this is a list that's going to be ever-expanding in the years to come, it will gain more traction over time. Iftekharahmed96 (talk) 09:31, 11 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Conceptually, I'm fine with it, though in reality, its hard to condone the creation of an entirely unsourced article. There really should at least be a source for each entry or something. Sergecross73 msg me 12:42, 11 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe not for every game, but I'll at least add sources to the more obscure properties in the list. Namcokid47 (talk) 23:09, 11 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
In my experience, it's generally better to source every entry, not only to comply with WP:V, but because it helps with inclusion enforcement. When some nut thinks that Mario Kart is a Namco franchise because they helped develop a few entries, its a lot easier to convince them that they need a source for such a claim when everything in the article is sourced. (Which in turn, would end the argument much quicker, because it'd be unlikely to find such a source...) Sergecross73 msg me 20:10, 12 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
It took quite a while, but each entry now has sources. Namcokid47 (talk) 21:40, 29 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
That makes more sense. I'll start sourcing stuff soon. Namcokid47 (talk) 03:49, 14 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I've moved the conversation to the topic's talk page as it will be more beneficial to talk about the topic here. Iftekharahmed96 (talk) 20:36, 12 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

banpresto and monolith soft games[edit]

why does this list have games from monolith soft and banpresto? They weren't even made by bandai namco..... 47.36.177.4 (talk) 00:45, 20 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Banpresto's video game operations were absorbed into that of Bandai Namco's back in 2008, which is why franchises like Another Century's Episode and Super Robot Wars are here. And while you are correct that Project X Zone, Xenosaga and Baten Katoes were developed by Monolith Soft, Bandai Namco owns these properties as they were published by the latter. Hope this helps and happy editing. Namcokid47 (talk) 00:47, 20 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Suzuka[edit]

WHY ARE MY EDITS BEING CHANGED. JUST KEEP IT SUZUKA, THAT IS WHAT THE NAME OF THE TRACK IS ACTUALLY CALLED YOU IDIOTS. I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO DEAL WITH YOU DICKHOLES. NAMCOKID AND THAT OTHER IP IDIOT CAN GET OFF OF WIKIPEDIA FOR REVERTING OBVIOUSLY CORRECT INFORMATION. 198.237.133.2 (talk) 22:30, 6 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

First off the bat, please watch your language. I don't know for sure if it is against the rules to cuss as other users here on Wikipedia, but it is generally looked down upon. For your edits, I do know that the track name is somewhat correct according to your logic, but you need to know that this is video game franchises that are currently owned by Bandai Namco, more specifically Suzuka 8 Hours, and as far as I know, Bandai Namco doesn't even own or have any relation to the race other than they obtained the license for the name and used it for a racing game in the early 90's. Please at least do some basic research before lashing out at other users. Namcokid47 (talk) 22:34, 6 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@SergeCross73:, OP is using fowl language to justify his edits. Iftekharahmed96 (talk) 11:41, 7 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Don't worry about it, it's been taken care of already. IP has been blocked for a year. Namcokid47 (talk) 18:55, 7 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Guidelines for new entries.[edit]

To prevent potential vandalism or misunderstanding, I've provided some guidelines for adding new entries to the list.

  • Obviously the series needs to be owned by Bandai Namco, a subsidiary (such as Banpresto or D3 Publisher), or has to be continuously published by them for each entry in the series, ex. Xenosaga, Project X Zone and Baten Kaitos were made by Monolith Soft (who is a Nintendo subsidiary), but since Bandai Namco has published each entry in the series, they do in fact own the full rights to these franchises.
  • A similar rule also applies to licenced games, including Dragon Ball, One Piece, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Sailor Moon and My Hero Academia; for inclusion, they must 1) Continuously be published by Bandai Namco or one of their subsidiary companies, and 2) The first entry that Bandai Namco published should be shown in the "First release" column - many times these licenses have fallen into other hands before being made by Bandai Namco, so the first game developed or published (or both) by Bandai Namco should be listed.
  • If you are unsure of what makes a franchise, a game series needs at least two games minimum to be included. Ports, remakes, special editions and similar releases do not count as they are simply altered versions of the same game. Spin-off games, however, do count as entries in a series, ex. Bravoman and Pistol Daymio no Boken, Bosconian and Final Blaster, etc.
  • Every single entry, no matter what it is, must have a source. This rule is made to comply with WP:V, as well as to enforce inclusion guidelines, which can help prevent vandalism of the page. Whether it is a well-known series like Pac-Man or Dig Dug, or a more obscure entry like World Stadium or Warp & Warp, each franchise needs a reliable source that proves it is, in fact, a franchise and not just a one-off game.
  • This article lists video game franchises, as well as redemption game franchises like Wani Wani Panic, Don Pisha and Clena-Flex; this means that anime and manga franchises will automatically be removed should someone add them to the page, no matter what.

Namcokid47 (talk) 19:11, 30 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of genre column[edit]

I think I will remove the entry that lists the game's genre, as many of these games have entries that take place in different genres - trying to list all of them would be a complete nightmare to do. If anyone opposes this, feel free to reply. Namcokid47 (talk) 23:58, 20 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Since I happen to agree and nobody else has opposed it yet, I did the honors of removing it. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 09:54, 3 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Namcokid47 and Dissident93: But many of series have their main genres, which mentioned by articles' first sentences. For other series, "variety" might be a solution. XD

Seriously, which columns are received and which are not? For one who wants to create this kind of lists, is there any suggestion? As we see: Work counters, sales and platforms were killed; the genres column was removed from this list, but remains in Sega and Square Enix franchises list. --Lopullinen 17:05, 22 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

My Hero One's Justice franchise is missing from Bandai Namco list of game franchises[edit]

There's at least 3 game in the series, but nothing on the list of Bandai Namco franchises here

Where's JoJo?[edit]

Hi, just a random. JoJo was named in an earlier topic, but it doesn't seem it was ever part of the main page based on the edit history. Since at least 2006, three different games have been Bandai-published, Phantom Blood on PS2, and All-Star Battle and Eyes of Heaven on PS3. I'm posting this here instead of editing the page directly because I don't know if there's a particular reason why, and I also don't really know the proper etiquette on doing so myself with sources. Just bringing it to people's attention. 2001:56A:F584:ED00:ADC8:DD01:A470:D4B3 (talk) 10:00, 6 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
