Norman DePoe[edit]

This was a pre-eminent television news journalist in the 1950s and '60s, oddly not mentioned at here much less having had an article written on him. I was a child in the '60s but recall him vividly, together with published accounts which named and discussed him. Any hope of reference now? He introduces this coverage and broadcasting of Lester Pearson: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=endscreen&NR=1&v=OCOQxVz6neQ Masalai (talk) 05:58, 12 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Article Norman DePoe now exists. --doncram 23:24, 21 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Bob Kerr[edit]

I am adding, as a redlink for now

  • Bob Kerr (radio broadcaster) (d. 2003)- CBC radio Classical music programme presenter of Off the Record for 36 years (retired 1996).

He's linked as an alumni of Shawnigan Lake School, with this reference: BCradiohistory.com Biography], and there are more hits in Google search "Bob Kerr CBC". --doncram 23:24, 21 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This list is not allowed to contain redlinks — a person cannot be included in the main list until after the article already exists. Listing him here, on the talk page, as a possible future topic is fine, but the article has to already be in place before he can be added to the articlespace list. @Denelson83: You don't add red links and the talk page is not to be used to list red links. Do that in your sandbox where you can work on the article. Plus, the have to be notable enough to warrant having a article. Mr. C.C.Hey yo!I didn't do it! 06:25, 12 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Read User:Bearcat's comment in the section above. -- Denelson83 07:52, 12 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Denelson83: He said NO red links. Either remove the red links or put the list elsewhere such as your sandbox. You have to create a draft space to work on them. Once finished an article get someone to look it over and give the okay to put it into mainspace. Mr. C.C.Hey yo!I didn't do it! 08:56, 12 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't say or mean that there should be an ongoing and permanent rolling list of every CBC personality kept on the talk page, I meant that it was okay to post a request for an article here. If you want to keep a permanent extended worklist of every potential future article topic you can think of, then indeed you do have to do that in your own sandbox rather than here.
Also note that CBC personalities are not necessarily handed an automatic presumption of notability just because they exist — any television personality, working for any network, is only notable enough for a Wikipedia article if they can show at least one of (a) a nationally significant distinction, such as an important and notable broadcasting or journalism award (e.g. a Canadian Screen Award in the journalism categories), or (b) reliable source coverage about them, in sources other than their own staff profiles on the self-published websites of their own employers. Many of the names you're listing pass neither of those notability criteria, and some of them actually have had articles in the past that got deleted because the person passed neither of those notability criteria — but if a person can neither claim a notable award nor get over WP:GNG on their sourcing, then they're not "inherently" notable just because they work on-air for the CBC. @Denelson83: There are to be no redlinks here. Why is that hard to understand? You can easily find a list of CBC personalities here. Articles get deleted all the time because they fail WP:GNG. It's on you or whoever creates an article to establish notability. It's not always inherent. Mr. C.C.Hey yo!I didn't do it! 18:51, 12 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
