New Rappers[edit]

This is not the place to put "new" Chicano rappers. All rappers in this list must still pass WP:BAND, meaning "new and up and coming" doesn't qualify. If they don't have independent 3rd party coverage, they do not qualify and will be reverted. Pharmboy (talk) 20:07, 2 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

since when mexico city and monterrey are USA cities since when molotov machete and molotov r chicanos? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.77.254.90 (talk) 13:35, 17 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Mexican artists?[edit]

Why are Cartel de Santa, Molotov, and Control Machete listed here? They're not Chicanos, but Mexicans. saɪm duʃan Talk|Contribs 10:47, 6 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Some inputs[edit]

1. Mexican Vs Chicano (Mexican Origin but born in the USA). Molotov and other Mexican groups should be removed. Or all northern Rap crews and MC's (Monterrey etc.) included...

2. missing: Dyablo (at least)

  • Do you have some links? Do they have an article here already? Dennis Brown - 06:36, 24 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Dennis Brown Everything is on social media, but not articles we don't pay to be posted we let the fans do the work check! www.estilomusic619.com there's a link Estilomusic619 also sign a couple of artists like Lil Los Stilo or Lil Los or j.Rome and singles the list is on since he left Estilomusic619 (talk) 06:40, 24 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The problem is, Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a social media site, so we only publish what has already been covered in mainstream publications. That is how we determine what is notable, and what is not: the amount of coverage in various print, web and other media, and how significant the coverage is. @Dennis Brown Yeah, I feel you on that - estilo did get back with lowprofilerecords, but left again the label once again. there's so much to cover when he left in 2013 from lowprofilerecords Estilomusic619 (talk) 09:19, 24 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You need to understand that Wikipedia isn't about promotion. To be in the list, you need an article here. To have an article here, you need someone ELSE to write it. For someone else to write it, there needs to be significant coverage from multiple reliable sources, ie: mainstream publications, that do more than list tracks or making passing mentions. This is what we mean by "notable", it means you've been talked about in detail in multiple publications, each which is recognized as "reliable". Reliable here means they have an editorial staff that fact checks things and have general acceptance by the greater community of journalists of being truthful and not promotional. Also, having singles that chart in national charts is helpful. Not smaller charts, but like Billboard. Being signed isn't enough, not by a mile. Many thousands are signed every year, maybe one or two go on to actually enjoy enough success to be notable. All this seems like a lot, but it's the only way to make sure that every article can be verified as being factual. You can't verify something if no one is covering it in detail. Being signed only is a case of WP:TOOSOON. Dennis Brown - 01:29, 30 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
