Should other nationalities be listed here too?[edit]

Right now several people are listed here who were born in the Czech lands or whose ancestors were born there. Some of them however wheren't Czechs, since Bohemia was a multiethnical country before 1945. Kerrys ancestors for instance weren't Czechs. Shouldn't we remove them? • The page is written according to the definition of Czech American: "Czech Americans refer to citizens of the United States who were born in, or who descended from, the territory of the historic Czech lands, (consisting of Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia), or succession states, now known as the Czech Republic." • So, Jews or Germans are regarded as Czechs in the United States (I'm just wondering)? If you want to include them this page should be renamed to "List of Americans from the Czech lands". Karasek (talk) 08:02, 21 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
      • Seeing how the third biggest Jewish building in the world is in Plzen, I'd think Jews would definitely be included. A lot of my relatives speak German better than Czech, so I can see a case for that too. But there's a difference between someone with ancestors from Berlin and someone with German ancestors from Prague. Nessie (talk) 18:24, 30 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Paulina Porizkova/Ric Ocasek[edit]

In what category would Paulina Porizkova be put? Any help establishing Ric Ocasek's Bohemian background? Thanks.--Artaxerxes (talk) 20:37, 19 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Ric Ocasek's grandfather August Otcasek emigrated from Anina, Romania (then Hungary) in 1906. He listed his ethnicity as "German".[1] Doremo (talk) 02:34, 20 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
These edits at Ric Ocasek (see the baptismal and death records) have demonstrated that Ric Ocasek's great-grandfather Josef Ocásek (1857–1906) was born in Skomelno, and that Ric Ocasek is therefore of Czech (as well as Irish, Welsh, and German) descent.
