Begining[edit]

I created this peage to shorten the length of the main article for Justice League Unlimited. This also allows room for listing some villians that have appeared. Feel free to edit to make this list more completer or accurate.

Just a note: Avoid adding minor villians and civilian characters that do not have a wikipedia article already. I think this has caused a problem before, since mentioning characters in the JLU article has provoked a bunch of poorly written stubs with no real information in them.

It seems like people keep on tweaking rhe JLU roster list. I'd like to clear some things up.

  • AMAZO isn't and never was a League member. (See Wake the Dead.)
  • Big Barda and Mr. Miracle are not League members. Flash specifically said so. (See The Ties That Bind)
  • Do not include characters that actually haven't appeared on the show. It's not funny.
  • The only future members of the League that should be listed are the ones that appeared in Justice League Unlimited, not Batman Beyond. (So NO Micron or Big Barda. This artivle is about Justice League Unlimited, not Batman Beyond.)

Ok, i'm not sure if this page was a good idea in the first place. You are right the material here is a bunch... But when i first saw the Justice League Unlimited seemed to me a litte incomplete...as if it were less of a big deal, you know. Besides would it be that bad to have a long article, even if you merge the two pages together, there would be a lot of bigger pages. Besides i agree with most of your points, specifically, the ones about amazo, barda & miracle, and the characters tha haven´t a appeared on the show... but not about the Micron & Barda thing. If you watched the second season, continuity in the DCAU has become a big thing. Besides I think most people would disagree with you, actually, right now, those characters ARE on the list and it wasn't me who put them there. Also, what's that thing you are sayng about minor villains?? what's the big deal if they don't have a wikipedia article? If Timm decide to draw them there must be a reason. If it is such a big deal to you maybe you could put an "(uncredited)" parenthesis there.--T-man, the Wise Scarecrow 20:23, 22 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

mmm...can we reintegrate this page to the Justice League Unlimited page...Even with the link... It looks so empty --T-man, the Wise Scarecrow 20:23, 22 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Real names[edit]

Is it really necessary to list all real names? It kinda makes the article confusing.

  • The real names are there so it is clear what version of each character is in the League (e.g. Ray Palmer is the version of The Atom present in the League, not Al Pratt, nor any of Ray Palmer's copycats from the future). It also helps in cases where more than one version of a character is featured in the series (such is the case of members of the Green Lanterns Corps, or of Steel, as both Henry "Hank" Heywood III and John Henry Irons appear).
Ok, but what's the point in naming ALL of them? Including characters that have only ONE version as Superman, Batman and Aquaman? No need at all.
  • OK, I'll admit you might be right...it's certainly more practical...(I added a few ones we missed, like Red Tornado and Dr. Light).

ol' Bruce Wayne[edit]

In "the Once and Future Thing" Bruce Wayne played a Profesor Xavior/Martian Manhunter kind of leader roll. So it might be a good idea to include him among the members.--T-man, the Wise Scarecrow 20:03, 22 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

JLU Roster[edit]

The list was too long, so I started a new article. Characters Appearing in Justice League Unlimited

Apparently, someone moved it back. It's waaaaay too long, I say we remove it and link to the characters page. --Gillespee 03:00, 28 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

What's the big deal about a long artice, forstcobainssake??! actually it's a good thing, it makes the article more intersting, it looks incomplete by not havin the characters. I definitively don't like it this linked way!!--T-man, the Wise Scarecrow 20:31, 22 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

"Wikipedia:Article size From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Jump to: navigation, search Limits on article size are set by a) technical issues and b) considerations of readability and organization.

In the past, technical considerations with some now-seldom-used browsers prompted a firm recommendation that articles be limited to a maximum size of precisely 32KB. With the advent of section editing, and the availability of upgrades for the affected browsers, this hard and fast rule has been softened.

However, do note that readers may tire of reading a page in excess of 20-30 KB of readable prose (tables, lists and markup excluded). (prose people, prose!... they are not talking about lists -T-man) Thus the 32KB recommendation is considered to have stylistic value in many cases; if an article is significantly longer than that, then sections probably should eventually be summarised and the detail moved to other articles (see Wikipedia:Summary style). For most long pages division into sections is natural anyway; even if there is no "natural" way to split a long list or table, it should be done anyway, to allow section editing.

Do not take precipitous action the very instant an article exceeds 32K. There is no need for haste. Discuss the overall topic structure with other editors. Determine whether the topic should be treated as several shorter articles and, if so, how best to organize them.

A relatively trivial fact may be appropriate in the context of the larger article, but inappropriate as the topic of an entire article in itself. In most cases, it is a violation of the neutral point of view to specifically break out a controversial section without leaving an adequate summary. Consider other organizational principles for splitting the article. Be sure that both the title and content of the broken-out article reflect a neutral point of view. A rule of thumb for splitting articles, and combining small pages:

>32KB - May eventually need to be divided (likelihood goes up with size; this is less critical for lists) >20KB - Might need to be divided (make sure sections are <20K - preferably much smaller) <20KB - Probably should not be divided <1K - If an article or list has remained this size for over a couple of months, consider combining it with a related page; this does not apply to a redirect or disambiguation page. Alternatively, why not fix it by adding more info? See Wikipedia:Stub. If it's a really important article that's just too short, put it under COTW, a project to improve stubs or nonexistent articles."

...Soooo...I think i'll be bringing back the list soon--T-man, the Wise Scarecrow 20:53, 22 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

How come Spectre and Sandman arent going to appear? does anyone have a source for that?

Wizard Magazine. 201.17.114.200 04:01, 31 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wasn't Speedy referred to as a "reserve member" in Patriot Act?--Gillespee 06:15, 13 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. I'm going to move him over to the members section. JimRaynor55 10:36, 22 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Mess[edit]

The article was just fine. Man, what a mess this dude is making... and no discuss about it. 201.17.114.200 04:01, 31 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Steel[edit]

Should "Steel II" be listed as, and directly linked to "Commander Steel," with "Steel III" listed as just plain "Steel" and linked to "John Henry Irons?" JimRaynor55 03:37, 27 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

60[edit]

In the part where the ultimen clones attack, lantern mentions that the league has 60 members totaly.

Lobo[edit]

lobo was also a member once.

When?--Chris Griswold 00:11, 19 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

OH!when Superman was thought to have died.

Epaladin 16:19, 1 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Actually Lobo was only declared a member of the League by himself. The others already on the League didn't elect him membership therefore I don't think that qualifies him as a member. What if I were to elect myself into the League without the League having any say, would you consider me a member? And while I'm on the subject, the only place that Lobo is on the list is a section called 'Other Leaders' that consists only of him and Zatanna. I don't understand what this section is for. I suggest if be deleted and Lobo be moved to the 'Guest Heroes' section. Zatanna is already listed under League Members as well. comicsstudent (talk) 02:46, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Black Lightning[edit]

Do we know why DC comics refuses to pay Tony Isabella any royalties for Black Lighting??--195.171.131.151 08:08, 22 June 2006 (UTC)Lucas[reply]

Ask Tony Isabela, he posts regularly in the Dwayne McDuffie forum. --201.114.105.54 07:59, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Move[edit]

I propose to move this page to "Characters appearing in Justice League".--201.114.105.54 07:57, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • I support the idea, considering that the list seems to include characters appearing in both series (plus JLU is considered by the IMDb and other sources to be a continuation of the JL series, not a new series on its own). 23skidoo 17:50, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
IMDB's not the only source that says that. TV.com as well. --Chris Griswold () 18:37, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree. Tv.com and the Internet Movie Database have no authority over whether or not JLU is a seperate series from Justice League. JLU was even better than Justice League and if you went up to Bruce Timm, Paul Dini, or one of the many other writers, directors, and producers who made the DCAU possible, they'de probably tell you that JLU was a very different show from Justice League. comicsstudent (talk) 02:36, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

AMAZO[edit]

Amazo is a villain. I'm removing him from the guest heroes section. Pengwiin 20:46, 26 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

    • He becomes a hero later though as seen in that episode where Hawkgirl rejoins the league

Speedy[edit]

Somebody keeps removing Speedy as a member. This person should stop as Speedy is and established member in two epsidoes, adn if you need a refresher watch "Patriot Act" or "Destroyer" on You Tube to remember.

It's you who really should watch "Patriot Act" in order to stop adding nonsense in here. 201.53.7.224 23:10, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Here is the Source to prove Speedy was a Justice League member. Look at the members of the Justice League section http://www.worldsfinestonline.com/WF/jlu/bios/
That's your source? A fan site? You gotta be kidding... Who told you fan sites are reliable sources? Or yet, valid sources to get info from? Wikipedia does not recognize fan sites as valid sources. Or is that a DC Comics or WB official website? I don't think so. Watch "Patriot Act", listen to Mr. Terrific/Green Arrow conversation. That's a source. That's where your answer is. 201.53.7.224 11:44, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It is wikipedia policy established on this talk page that Speedy is a member....

"Wasn't Speedy referred to as a "reserve member" in Patriot Act?--Gillespee 06:15, 13 February 2006 (UTC)

Yes. I'm going to move him over to the members section. JimRaynor55 10:36, 22 March 2006 (UTC) "

Here's the clip in question and it does not say anything either way http://youtube.com/watch?v=CPkvcTEqq4U for speedy or crimson avenger. If crimson avenger is considered a member, so is speedy

This clip only indicates we should remove Crimson Avenger as well. Where's the first part when GA asks for assistance and Terrific says every other leaguer is busy and adds that he'll get ANY assistance available? 201.53.27.43 22:36, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
But he is confirmed as a member in the comics referring to his time on the show

Why don't you just make a special section just for reserver members to resolve this issue? comicsstudent (talk) 02:29, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Characters Appearing in the DCAU[edit]

I have not noticed this as being an article anywhere, and it may be better. It would allow for more information on one page and would solve disputes about the status of certain characters and whether they appeared or not. if they appeared on one of Bruce Timm's DCAU shows they go in the article and that would be the end of it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.164.136.207 (talk) 14:57, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's a fine suggestion (though I wonder if it's a good or bad thing that the article keeps mutating further away from being a list of the JL roster during JLU), but until (and if) that happens, "The Call" and "Future Shock" were not episodes of JLU. BlankHole 23:54, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
An editor should redirect the article then becuase the way the page is designed is unclear. The cahracters in the other episodes are still members of the Justice League in the future, which is the heading, and it is one continuity. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.164.136.207 (talk) 00:08, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The page is clear: it's for Characters appearing in *Justice League Unlimited.* And while Batman Beyond and Static Shock are part of the same (loose) continuity, they are not the same show as JLU. BlankHole 00:35, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It would appear that the name of the article has oficially changed from "Characters Apperearing in Justice League Unlimited" to "Characters Appearing in the DC Animated Universe." comicsstudent (talk) 02:25, 31 January 2008 (UTC) comicsstudent (talk) 02:25, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Merges[edit]

Since there is no Justice Society of America in the DC animated universe, it is not notable enough for its own article.--Marcus Brute (talk) 03:18, 1 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Frankly, I've no problem with merging the 5 lists into here - and keeping them as bullet points, seperated by series, and limited to just what was in that show. Including the voice actor may be a god idea. And for the limited use characters - cameo or appeared rarely - listing the episodes. - J Greb (talk) 23:15, 1 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Merge the lot and keep bulleted, all the information already exists on the relevant articles (series and character). (Emperor (talk) 17:01, 7 May 2010 (UTC))[reply]

OK... the merge is done... maybe more than done.

Right now the material is listed by show/film in production order. Characters are listed under the shows they appeared in with links where they are first listed. I do have a few requests though:

  • Lets' try to not break out groups or sets of characters any further than they are right now. ie: We have the LSH characters that appeared in STAS lumped under the show, and those that appeared in JLU under that show. We don't need to create a separate "Legion of Super-Heroes" section.
  • A lot of the characters that appeared in the show did not have a secret ID revealed. And some that did don't match the comics. Lets stick with what's in the shows.
  • If we have a set index article for a character that is just identified to a code name, please leave the link pointing there. We don't get to guess with version of the character we're looking at, especially with dome of the modified costumes.
  • Characters that are mentioned, referred to, alluded to, and/or suggested, shouldn't be included in the list.
  • Right now this list is limited to the shows and films. Please try to not add in the characters that appeared in spin-off video games or comics.

Thanks,

- J Greb (talk) 05:57, 16 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Names of Voice Actors[edit]

I think it would be great to get a list of the voice actors of these characters too. Hopefully incorporate that into the template as well.Arnabdas (talk) 15:48, 1 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If they can be reasonably sourced, adding the voice actors may be do-able in the list.
As for the template - standing consensus is to not include actors in templates for projects/films/programs on which they worked.
- J Greb (talk) 16:30, 1 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Understood. I started the sourcing already. Anyone who can help please do. Arnabdas (talk) 19:08, 10 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
