Overlap[edit]

This article has very considerable overlap with two other pre-existing articles: List of animal names and List of collective nouns. It also currently has a problem with having no references, as the editor (who was brand new on 17th October) compiled the list himself over time rather than taking the list from one source, however I have asked the editor to try to add at least some of the sources he used. If this list survives, it will need to be merged with the other articles at some point, but since it was a good faith effort by a new editor, and since it contains some information not present in the other lists, perhaps it is worth keeping for the time being. I wasn't familiar with the word used to describe the female animal column, and after some fairly extensive searching in dictionaries and Google Books, cannot find reference to its usage in this way (or any way, outside of a name). I feel there is sufficient grounds for immediately removing this. However, in the interest of kindness (and the minute possibility of me learning a word to submit to Merriam-Webster and the OED, I'm asking here first.)Jtrnp (talk) 01:21, 26 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Still needs to be removed/merged[edit]

As Invertzoo noted several years ago, this really is duplicate information and still needs merging. Definitely not deletion, though, until that is complete. Also noteworthy, Google uses this page to provide answers when you type in things like "female dog name." I'd like to think they'll be smart enough to find the new source once this information is moved. But yes, maybe one day I (or somebody) will find the free time to do this.Jtrnp (talk) 21:52, 26 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
