July 2008[edit]

What happened to the last episodes?[edit]

In that I mean where are those synopses? Because I have seen some of those episodes - even part of the last one when Steve is proposing to Laura, but going to Moscow - I'm sure those episodes aired .... or were they just direct to video? Uh, the synposes are included for the final episodes, which indeed aired on terrestrial television and in reruns. Keep in mind that the episode descriptions are brief for a reason (i.e., not a blow-by-blow account of the show). Also, the episode where Urkel proposed to Laura is included correctly. Urkel's first appearance[edit]

I have included in the episode description that Urkel's first appearance is indeed in "Rachel's First Date." However, this is in syndication only and does not apply to first-run episodes. I have noted that the gag in which he appearas at the beginning of "Rachel's First Date" was added after the episode featuring his first storyline appearance ("Laura's First Date") had aired in December 1989. Unfortunately, the only source we may have to confirm this is the original ABC broadcast of "Rachel's First Date" [[Briguy52748 (talk) 18:33, 27 August 2008 (UTC)]][reply]

episode mistake[edit]

The episode "Hot Wheels" actually aired 9/25/92 and was the 2nd episode of season 4 (total episode #74) - not, as listed in the article, the 12th episode of season 4 airing on 1/15/93 (total episode #84) - please fix this by moving, some numbers have to be changed thus also. DVD Releases[edit]

How about adding a section on DVD releases?

I don't know if there are guidelines... there doesn't seem to be any uniform guidelines... or people are NOT following them!

EVERYTHING should follow set guidelines... if there isn't any, then there should be some made!

I decided to create individual episode articles for the most important episodes. Page revamp[edit]

I took the liberty of completely revamping the page by adding director and writer info and the correct production codes. I was unable to finder the writer(s) for the episode "A Ham is Born" from season 7. I may have to watch that episode again to document it on the page. Inexplicable tag[edit]

This "article" is a list, right? As far as I can tell, it has nothing in it but descriptions of the plots of episodes. Yet some joker has tagged the article with the following:

[This article's] . . . tone or style may not reflect the formal tone used on Wikipedia.

What the hell is this supposed to mean? It has no tone! It's a f***ing list! I swear, my dog gets more important things accomplished when he drops a load in the yard than does an editor who leaves such an apparently thoughtless tag, without even explaining themselves on the talk page. I doubt this person will even ever come back to see the outcome of their taking a dump on this article; they probably just hit the random article link over and over to look for excuses to plant tags. Factual error re: Commissioner Geiss character[edit]

The entry for the season 8 episode "The Brother Who Came to Dinner" says that it was Commissioner Geiss's first appearance. That is not correct: Geiss appeared in the earlier episode "Chick-A-Boom" and possibly others. Chalkieperfect (talk) 23:03, 21 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hot Wheels[edit]

I agree with the previous comment about Hot Wheels. I do think it was the second episode of season 4, as the DVD lists it that way, and someone on the IMDb message boards said they remembered it being early in the season. Source for airdates[edit]

I would like to know what the source for the airdates for the episodes is. I do believe that 5 episodes listed here could be out of order. These are:

Robonerd 2 and Dudes (these two episodes may have aired the other way around)

Hot Wheels (might have been second in season 4)

It's a Mad, Mad, Madhouse (may have been between Oddest Couple and Lot like Urkel)

Cheers Looking at you Kid (may have been between Flying Blind and Elm Street)

Now, there are some sources that list the episodes in this order, but it seems like more popularly used sources, such as this article and I believe IMDb, do not. So which order should this go by, the one that I have mentioned, or the one it already is?

I propose the one that I have mentioned, and I have a few pieces of evidence to support this:

1. This is the order that some syndicated networks show them in, and I am sure that their source for the order has a good chance of being right.

2. The DVDs also have them in this order (except Cheers Looking at you Kid, which has not been released on the Season 6 DVD yet), which also may have a decent source.

3. The year the episode was aired is listed at the end of the credits, and the Season 4 and 6 episodes each have 1992 and 1994 years listed, respectively.

So, if someone wants to offer suggestion as to what we should do, feel free to tell me. If anyone has any more evidence of these episodes' airdates let me know. Any and all feedback is more than welcome!

Season 4 Error[edit]

Been binge watching the series and season 4 episode 2 is listed as "Dance to the Music." But if she has gone out with Ted on another episode before being nominated as homecoming queen, that means "Dance to the Music" is episode 3. Episode 12 should be "It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Urkel." According to EpGuides.com, that's how it should be. Which is correct? I don't want to make any changes without clarification. This is why a reliable source for airdates is so important for all TV series list of episodes. I would check "TV Guide" to see if they have an episode guide for Family Matters and if so what airdates and episode order they list. I would also check sources like Amazon or iTunes to see if they list original airdates...

Now, all that said, with TV sitcoms, especially in the 1980s, episodes in a certain production order were often aired out of order! so that, for example, "production episode #4.3" was actually broadcast before "production episode #4.2" aired, leading to continuity errors. So, in order to be actually sure about stuff like this, you need a WP:RS with the episode airdates. (And, unfortunately, EpGuides is not quite that – I consider it close, but EpGuides does have errors sometimes as well...) --IJBall (contribs • talk) 03:55, 26 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Formatting Problem[edit]

(edit conflict) You need to change the template code from {{Episode list to (I believe) {{Episode list/sublist|Family Matters (season 4). That said, look at MOS:TV, and make certain that a standalone article for season #4 is justified – IOW, if pretty much all you've got at that episode is the episode table, it shouldn't be a separate article: additional content (esp. 'Production' info, and possibly critical 'Reception' info) is also needed. This is also true of any other standalone 'season' articles. --IJBall (contribs • talk) 06:19, 26 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

No need to get snippy – answering that question will help other editors with the same question... As to the other point, I don't think there is enough content (right now) to justify standalone "season" articles in this case.
