FMP Overload[edit]

Should this include Full Metal Panic Overload? Saetch 00:08, 15 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I think it should. The main article mentions it briefly, but if we can find the appropriate information, then I don't see why it shouldn't be here. UnfriendlyFire 01:03, 15 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Full Metal Panic Fumoffu episode list[edit]

I'm planning on using the Template:Japanese episode list, but two episode titles in one entry doesn't format really well. Would splitting up the episodes into 1a and 1b work? UnfriendlyFire 04:56, 28 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

screenshots[edit]

I do not believe the screenshots are given permission by copyright holders to be posted online with wikiepedia. Removed until permission is granted. Akatombo 14:57, 19 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You would be right that I do not have permission from the copyright owners to post these screenshots like most images on Wikipedia. However, these images were uploaded under the fair use law. I applied WP:FU and WP:FUC as best as I could in the image pages. I used featured lists such as List of Fullmetal Alchemist episodes and List of RahXephon media as a guideline. Please notes that these images aren't random screenshots as I tried to select images the provide the best visual context to the summaries written and why they apply in the fair use claims.
I don't claim to be an expert in copyright or fair use law. Please explain how these images are different than those in the featured lists mentioned above or any other article with fair use images for that matter and explain where I am deficient in the my fair use claims. Until Wikipedia estalbishes a unilateral policy to ban copyrighted images, I don't see why these images should be singled out among the images under fair use in the 1000s of articles in Wikipedia. UnfriendlyFire 05:09, 20 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It is my opinion that "Everyone else it doing it" is not an excuse to use copyrighted images. It would be more proactive to contact the copyright owners and gain permission to use the images, than to argue the legality of its usage. The article at Fair_use shows that these screen shots are only marginal with the four factors test. Thousands of other articles or not, it does not change the basic fact that the images have a copyright holder, and I am wary of using images that have not been released into the public domain. I believe it is unprofessional, and unfitting for encyclopedia writing. Until there is an argument other than "Everyone else is doing it, why not here?", I remain unimpressed and unconvinced that the screen shots are of significant value to the article.
Now for a personal opinion. Wikipedeia isn't intended to be a episode guide of every single anime, ever. I believe episode synopsis' should not be placed within Wikipedia. The existing synopsis is brief enough that I am not going to undo it on my personal opinion. As far as images go, portraits may make it easier to identify a certain character. In contrast, episode screen shots do nothing but to satisfy fan desire to see their favored show better represented. I believe to be unnecessary, loud, and terribly immature. If a person wishes to produce a detailed episode guide with screenshots, it should be hosted on a private site, or a specialized anime wiki. As much as I like the show, I don't believe Wikipedia should be the venue to be image spammed by fans. It isn't the place. Akatombo 22:04, 10 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

TSR summaries[edit]

I'm not sure what the thoughts were on keeping the episode guide, but it seems like most series on wiki have an episode guide. Anyway, assuming that it's to be kept, the summaries for The Second Raid episodes are badly written and incomplete, it would help if they could be redone to match the first season. 121.45.189.3 05:49, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Tokyopop novel release dates[edit]

The list of FMP novels all show release dates for the upcoming English translations by Tokyopop. However, the release dates seem unrealistic, and on top of that the supposed sources (which should verify these dates) at the Tokyopop website don't seem to exist. Awaiting the presentation of a proper source, the dates have been removed for now. If an authorized source contains other release dates, this page should be altered to show the information given by that new source. Jelco.galactaboy 13:47, 1 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

As of July 15th, 2007 (the day I updated the release dates) those source pages did exist. Tokyopop has obviously taken those pages down since then (likely because those dates were tentative and not meant for public eyes) but other sites, such as Amazon.com, still list a matching release date for the 2nd book. I believe there was also a site that listed a release for the 3rd book but I'll have to do some searching to find it. Bbobjs 02:11, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The third USA novel release date was posted a few days ago without a source. I added an Amazon.com page including this information to solve the problem. Please include the source yourself next time you update a page. Jelco.galactaboy 15:22, 3 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Full Metal Panic Fumoffu! OST.jpg[edit]

Image:Full Metal Panic Fumoffu! OST.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Album covers removed[edit]

Album covers are not supported in discographies. This has been long standing practice now and is not in dispute. Pick any random sampling of 50 articles from Category:Discographies. You will not find a single article in that category that contains album covers. If by some miracle you do find one, it will have only recently been added and the covers will be removed soon. I've removed the album covers again, as this is a clear violation of our guideline and policy. Do not re-add them. Thanks, --Hammersoft (talk) 14:55, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Episode List English Names[edit]

Does anyone know whether the English names are official or are they just literal translations? Because I've seen quite a few variations on the names. - plau (talk) 17:33, 14 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

After a quick look at the lists for the first two series I would say they are the official english names, none of them seem out of place. I think ADV just did a literal translation. Can't speak for TSR as I've not watched the official version Dandy Sephy (talk) 19:48, 14 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
My main issue is TSR, because I've seen various versions of the titles. As for Full Metal Panic, I'm unsure about Episode 5 (I've seen Whispered - The Ones to Be Whispered), 10 (Run, Run, Run) and 15-17 (The Wind Blows at Home). As for Fumoffu, I'm don't seem to see a problem. - plau (talk) 04:57, 15 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

List of manga[edit]

The list of manga section doesn't really have much information, should it be removed until more information is added in? It makes the page look very bad. - plau (talk) 11:24, 20 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, the whole page looks bad, and that's ignoring the fact that media lists are discouraged by WP:ANIME (and have been for some time) in favor of episode, chapter, (light) novel, and video game lists and balanced coverage in the main article. In this particular case, the novels should be split out into a separate List of Full Metal Panic! novels (or light novels, if that's what they are), and the manga section should be split out into a List of Full Metal Panic! chapters - both of them should be converted to use {{Graphic novel list}}, and I can help with them some (assuming I can find the time). The episode list should similarly be split to List of Full Metal Panic! episodes, and the soundtracks should be merged back to the main article (which itself needs lots of work) and cleaned up (User:KrebMarkt can help with this). In all cases, further cleanup is necessary, along with lots of sourcing. ダイノガイ?!」(Dinoguy1000) 19:40, 20 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I concur. If no one disagrees, I will start moving the episodes. - plau (talk) 03:09, 21 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I support the move, but 40minutes isn't really time to give people chance to object. If you are going to action something quickly, it's silly to allow people to disgree. Either give them a few hours/days or don't offer the chance to object. Anyway, hopefully this will lead to a proper set of articles (the main article can easily become B class once the required work is complete), unfortunately I can't take a large role in this because I'm already swamped with another set of articles Dandy Sephy (talk) 04:06, 21 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
