Topic[edit]

Wouldn't it be better to have this as a list of satellites, rather than a list of launches? --GW 21:30, 21 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm in agreement with you, and I suspect that we would be free to do as we wish since looking at the edit history, it seems as though not many people were aware of the existence of this list to begin with (I wasn't until today). I see lots of possible improvements, plus, the third generation N satellites are still grouped with the second gen. -MBK004 21:36, 21 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
My suggestion for the new format would be:
Satellite Launch Designation Launch Date/Time (UTC) Rocket Launch Site Longitude First Image Status Retirement Remarks
GOES 1 GOES-A October 16, 1975, 06:40 Delta 2914 CCAFS LC-17A 25 October 1975 Retired 7 March 1985
Any thoughts? --GW 21:26, 22 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Absolutely, that looks good. If we can get this fixed-up in time for the launch of GOES-O this week it would be great. -MBK004 21:31, 22 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • How do you feel about the images in the list? I'm undecided, as they do add some colour to the list, but it seems like overkill. --GW 21:36, 22 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that an image or two for each is overkill, perhaps one image in the lead and one for each generation of satellite perhaps? -MBK004 21:43, 22 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'm going to be bold and start work on this. --GW 21:46, 22 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Is that any better? --GW 09:18, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

GOES-Q[edit]

I am curious, why is there no GOES-Q? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jedikaiti (talkcontribs) 17:16, 24 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It was a contract option for an additional GOES-N series satellite, which was not built. --W. D. Graham 18:04, 24 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Operational Role History[edit]

I recall going to the environment canada offices on a field trip when I was in grade school in the late 70s early 80s and seeing images from GOES-West. I've been looking for data on which GOES sattelite was GOES-West then. Is that information available anywhere? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 159.153.4.50 (talk) 18:52, 19 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
