NPOV

For pity's sake, who slapped a {{npov}} on this thing? It's obviously in its infancy; it can be edited however you please. Why do people cry NPOV instead of just fixing whatever bothers them? At least put a justificative objection in the talk section.
Personally, however, I do find it problematic that the creator of this article clearly wants to roll together people fighting for diverse causes over many centuries. Can we perhaps limit this article to a list of people taking part in the freedom struggle stricto sensu? QuartierLatin1968 02:20, 6 Dec 2004 (UTC)

I made a few changes, so hopefully it feels more neutral now. My sense is that this list could cover anybody who fought against foreign domination and the imposition of foreign cultures. (Which could include fighters prior to the Colonial period.) RJH 16:58, 13 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Maruthanayagam Removed

Hello all, Under 18th century activists the name Maruthanayagam has been removed.He was a controversial figure and worked for the British as a warrior.The British used this character to mow down all anti colonial activists in Tamil Nadu.Two most famous of them were Veeran Azhagu Muthu Kone and Puli Thevan(Polygar of Nelkattumseval},former was blown from the mouth of a cannon and the later was captured and handed to the British who hanged him.Later Maruthanayagam himself was killed ,but this time he was captured by the British and hanged by the Carnatic Nawab in 1756.Tamil Nadu government recogonises only Veeran Azhagu Muthu Kone and Puli Thevan,as freedom fighters ,while Maruthanayagam is recogonised by none except movie actor Kamalhassan who along with the BBC planned a mega buck movie ,but later dropped for various reasons.

Though most of the more modern people certainly were Indian independance activists once you get to the 19th century and earlier it becomes far more a case of modern society imprinting its views on people who had entirely different motives. That they are considered folk heroes in modern India does not mean they actually were without a doubt freedom fighters.

I'm not so sure about this article's existance being warranted TBH though, wouldn't a category of 'people considered freedom fighters in India' (or something along those lines) be more in line with standard procedure on wikpedia? --Josquius (talk) 18:35, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

Inclusion of Independence activists form Bengal

It is strange to see the name of K.D.Malaviya ( even though there is no information on him posted yet) but no mention of the Greater Malaviya i.e. Madan Mohan Malaviya. I hope the omission is only by oversight and is corrected soon. I could provide information about K.D. Malaviya and pictures too but I don't think there are too many published works on him that i can put up as references. All i know is through family history.
