Scope and sources[edit]

Firstly this cannot be a complete list of Italian actors: no such thing is feasible—it would have to include every spear-carrier who trod the boards of the Teatro Olimpico and every forgotten player of the Commedia dell'Arte who appeared at far more rustic venues.

Secondly the description of sources is now thoroughly out of date. No doubt the following statement is true:

The origin of this list is in collation of actor-stubs that contain reference to the actor or actress being an "Italian actor" or other indicative phrase. It also includes all actors in Category:Italian actors.

But the current list is largely of redlinks.

List of Italian actors → List of Italian male actors – The current title is not precise, as actor can refer to actors of any gender. This move would also make it consistent with Category:Italian male actors. GreenComputer (talk) 11:48, 9 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose per WP:CONSISTENCY. While category headers do indeed use the form "male actors", that is not the case with main title headers of the lists themselves as confirmed by entries under Category:Lists of actors by nationality. Singling out this specific list for inconsistency would be counterintuitive. —Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 04:39, 11 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Roman Spinner: Almost all the lists in Category:Lists of actors by nationality that are for "actors" (as opposed to "male actors" or "actresses") are for actors of any gender (see, for instance, List of Cameroonian actors, List of Jamaican actors, List of Swedish actors, etc.), which would make leaving this article at its current title inconsistent. Neutral. I am striking my previous "oppose" vote and replacing it with "neutral". Although there are still titling inconsistencies, this entry is not the sole one bearing the header "List of Everynation male actors". —Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 10:16, 11 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose, "actor" already implies maleness in formal English. A better solution would be just to merge the two lists, thus also allowing space for members of the acting profession who do not wish to be identified as either m or f. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 13:53, 20 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
