Comment on this list[edit]

Two questions to ask to the editor who objected to the merge.

  1. How do you know if they all are made in Japan, where is the reliable third party sources to prove that.
  2. Can I see this list being any different from the more universal list, and looking at this state of this edit, why should it be significant, at least that list is entirely bluelinked.

These two reasons is why I stand by my decision to merge/AfD that list, well the AfD for failing the reliable third party source guidelines. Other than that, you can expand this into an article about the Japanese bicycle industry, but then all the usual editing guidelines apply. Donnie Park (talk) 12:13, 6 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Donnie. The list has been made in good faith, and since many of the companies on the list are linked to full articles with fairly developed histories, there would be little question that they are brands made in Japan. I'm not at all clear on your second question. Can you elaborate? There is a difference between a universal list and a list of Japanese brands... the difference being fairly obvious. Perhaps there's another way to achieve the same thing. Thanks for discussing this. 842U (talk) 14:35, 6 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
What I was to point out was that I didn't think this list was any significant to the generic list about bicycle manufacturers considering that one was entirely bluelinked and for this list, how did I know these were built in Japan, plus many of these are redlinked, otherwise did not have its own article. Hence this is why I said it is no different to that generic list about bicycle manufacturers. Talking about reliable third party sources, I think this list should become an article about the Japanese bicycle industry, considering after googling "Japanese bicycle industry", I am under the impression where are all these entries are coming from, which would likely be from this article. This is as I think this list is better off being an article about the Japanese bicycle manufacturing industry, considering their significance in the 1970s. Actually that is what I am now looking of doing with this list. Donnie Park (talk) 20:02, 6 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
