Records by Base[edit]

Are records kept of which base was stolen? That is, for example, is there a record for most steals of third base? I find that Ty Cobb stole home 54 times, but I see nothing anywhere for bases other than home plate. Abenr (talk) 06:56, 24 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I was independently wanting the same thing - states for each base - and was about to ask the question in the talk page when I came across this. 21:35, 20 September 2015 (UTC)

Dear Wikipedia,

I would like to start off by praising the service you give to those in need of swift, necessary information. I would like to address something in the article: List of Major League Baseball stolen base records.

Just recently, the player, Juan Pierre, has swiped his 600th career stolen base, and he now stands at 601. In the article, he is not included in the 600 club, neither is he in the top ten player stolen base records. I figure I just inform you, as I am incapable of making a change, and also because I believe this player deserves all the praise possible, as he is the most underrated player in baseball history.

Sorry for the trouble, and thanks again.

This appears to have been fixed. Should have been a separate section, however. Ileanadu (talk) 21:35, 20 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Minor League Records[edit]

There's an awful lot of minor league records on this article about "Major League Baseball stole base records" --Watchsmart (talk) 01:39, 15 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Minor League Records[edit]

If no one objects, I'm going to remove the minor league records (such as Billy Hamilton's 155 steals in 2012 in AA) from this page, as it is quite clearly labeled "List of MAJOR LEAGUE Baseball stolen base records" (emphasis mine) Vyselink (talk) 19:19, 23 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Change "600 Career" to "Top 20 Career"[edit]

I came back to this page to fine the career leader, and while the "600 Career" section does that, I propose adding in the final four needed to make it a top 20 list, and changing the name to Top 20 Career or All-Time. Makes it a little clearer to me. Vyselink (talk) 01:03, 7 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Most stolen bases by a team in one season[edit]

The noted section fails verification and needs to be redone from reliable sourcing. Missing, for example, is the 1887 Baltimore Orioles season; that team had 545 stolen bases (see here). A potential source is here. I will try to update the section in the next day or two. Dmoore5556 (talk) 14:57, 17 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

New player with 35 consecutive stolen bases[edit]

Trea Turner should be added to the list of players with 35 or more consecutive stolen bases without being caught:
