Can we include records for undrafted players[edit]
- Single-game points for an undrafted player (54) - Fred VanVleet
- Points first five career games for an undrafted player (112) - Kendrick Nunn-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 15:11, 26 April 2024 (UTC)
- @TonyTheTiger - Fred's record was added to List of NBA regular season records#Individual game records. And Nunn's record was added to List of NBA regular season records#Rookie and age-related records. - BeFriendlyGoodSir (talk) 17:54, 26 April 2024 (UTC)
breadth[edit]
If we are going to have record for first 5 NBA games, we should have record for NBA debut, first 10, 50, 100, all hundreds to 1000.-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 18:45, 26 April 2024 (UTC)
- We already have records up for NBA debut high in pts, asts, rebs, blks, stls. Good point for 10s, 50s, 100s, 1000s I agree adding but not sure who has those records yet. - BeFriendlyGoodSir (talk) 19:43, 26 April 2024 (UTC)
- I think Jeremy Lin has the record for first five games. - BeFriendlyGoodSir (talk) 22:42, 26 April 2024 (UTC)
- Jeremy Lin's article says he scored a total of 89, 109, and 136 points in his first three, four, and five career starts (not games), respectively; all three totals are the most by any player since the merger between the American Basketball Association (ABA) and the NBA in 1976–77. It's not an all-time record though, I think? - BeFriendlyGoodSir (talk) 22:46, 26 April 2024 (UTC)
- I guess we could have records for first start (for full set of stats) and first 5 starts (whatever we can find). (You could note with Lin 3, 4, and 5). Those are important records. They also clarify Linsanity.-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 03:55, 27 April 2024 (UTC)
POTM and POTW[edit]
Do we know the single-season and career records for Player of the month and Player of the Week?-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 22:23, 28 April 2024 (UTC)
- I am guessing LeBron.-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 22:26, 28 April 2024 (UTC)
- https://basketball.realgm.com/nba/awards/by-type/Player-Of-The-Month/29 maybe articles on this, good suggestion BeFriendlyGoodSir (talk) 02:20, 29 April 2024 (UTC)
- The thing is that since 2000-01 there have been two (one for each conference), so modern players have an unfair advantage. LeBron has played his whole career in the 2 per month era.-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 03:58, 29 April 2024 (UTC)
- Oh, I see that now. Then technically there could be a separate record winner for post 2000 and pre-2000. But only if there was a RS source writing about it. I have not yet come across any articles myself. Another problem to keep in mind is the difference in competition among East and West conferences. - BeFriendlyGoodSir (talk) 05:13, 29 April 2024 (UTC)
- Lebron James has the most times being named Conference Player of the Month (46 times) and Lebron James has most times being named Conference Player of the Week (64 times). - BeFriendlyGoodSir (talk) 16:37, 29 April 2024 (UTC)
- What about single-season?-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 17:22, 29 April 2024 (UTC)
- What's peculiar is that these awards are left out of List of NBA awards. - BeFriendlyGoodSir (talk) 16:41, 29 April 2024 (UTC)
- They are clearly official NBA awards. That template should have an inseason list that includes POTM, POTW, COTM and ROTM.-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 17:22, 29 April 2024 (UTC)
- In season tournament MVP could go there too.-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 18:23, 29 April 2024 (UTC)
- IST MVP was already added. called NBA Cup mvp on records list BeFriendlyGoodSir (talk) 19:55, 29 April 2024 (UTC)
- also Clutch Player of the Year and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Social Justice Champion Award needs to go in there. but for now, it's kind of a case of too soon. - BeFriendlyGoodSir (talk) 21:20, 29 April 2024 (UTC)

I don't know what a box Plus–minus or a real Plus–minus is. We should have just regular plus/minus records. I think we should have career (maybe Tim Duncan), season (Maybe Draymond Green), game, half and quarter. We could have other sequence records, like consecutive positive plus/minus.
Here are some interesting plus/minus stretch records from this year first 4 games with new team +91 Quentin Richards, first 10 games with new team +170 OG Anunoby, first 13 games with new team +239 OG Anunoby also mentions Duncan was exactly +10,000 for his career. Not sure if this is a record but positive p/m for first 23 regular season games with new team OG Anunoby -TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 18:12, 29 April 2024 (UTC)

- Yes, adding regular plus-minus record might make sense. The experts claim "Box" and "Real" give a more accurate representation of player impact. But yes, that could be helpful. - BeFriendlyGoodSir (talk) 18:44, 29 April 2024 (UTC)
- I intended to create a separate wikipedia article about each of those advanced metrics. Haven't gotten around to it yet but they deserve it. If you look at baseball's sabermetrics (see Baseball statistics), you will notice that there are countless articles about these seemingly esoteric but actually critically important statistical concepts to understanding player and team performance. - BeFriendlyGoodSir (talk) 18:50, 29 April 2024 (UTC)
- User:BeFriendlyGoodSir, I had a chance to read BPM and real PM today. Great to learn about them.-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 04:32, 3 May 2024 (UTC)
Pts in debut against former team[edit]
I added a record that was set in November 2019. Not sure if it is still the current record.-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 18:28, 3 May 2024 (UTC)
- Record stands. - BeFriendlyGoodSir (talk) 22:16, 3 May 2024 (UTC)
Do we want records like fewest minutes for x and y[edit]
Anthony Davis played 30:34 in a 40-20 game on 10/29/19, which was the least time played in a 40-20.-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 19:40, 3 May 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, great record. That record fits in the "Other" section on List of NBA regular season records#Individual game records. I grouped them by person. - BeFriendlyGoodSir (talk) 20:01, 3 May 2024 (UTC)
- Anthony Davis record has been added.- BeFriendlyGoodSir (talk) 22:13, 3 May 2024 (UTC)
Same game as above[edit]
Davis set the NBA record with 18 free throws in a quarter in the above 10/29/19 game. He was 18-18 in the half. The record is 20 in a half. Is Davis' 18 without a miss a record for a half? Also, he made his final 21 consecutively. Is this a Laker's single game record for consecutive free throws?-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 19:54, 3 May 2024 (UTC)
- If it is a Laker's record, it belongs in Los Angeles Lakers accomplishments and records#In a game - BeFriendlyGoodSir (talk) 20:03, 3 May 2024 (UTC)
- Probably most FTs without a miss in a
quarter andhalf, but I cannot confirm - BeFriendlyGoodSir (talk) 20:05, 3 May 2024 (UTC)- Booker was 20-21 (https://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/201703240BOS.html)
- When Jordan made 20 in a half he was 21-24 on the night (https://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/199212300MIA.html), so it is unlikely that he was 20-20 in a half. The question is what about the guys that have made 19 in a half.-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 20:13, 3 May 2024 (UTC)
- I'll look into it and let you know if I uncover anything here. - BeFriendlyGoodSir (talk) 21:21, 3 May 2024 (UTC)
- Top 20 most FTs made in a game and Top 20 most FTs without miss in a game. This might help uncover it. Probably somewhere an RS article on most FTS in half without a miss if it is not Anthony Davis? - BeFriendlyGoodSir (talk) 22:22, 3 May 2024 (UTC)
- P.S. Since 18 is the record for FT in a quarter 18-18 has to be the record for without a miss.-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 20:14, 3 May 2024 (UTC)
- Corrected. BeFriendlyGoodSir (talk) 21:25, 3 May 2024 (UTC)
Most game comebacks (10+ pts) and leads given up (10+ pts) in a season by a team[edit]
I can't find who has this record and I have tried quite a bit. The tv and news media commonly report on this information throughout the recent seasons. I recall the Spurs leading in leads given up (10+ pts) this season but I am looking for the all-time records. - BeFriendlyGoodSir (talk) 01:34, 4 May 2024 (UTC)
