Timeline[edit]

The enlarging and color changing of this timeline is unneeded. Their is no need for lines to be increased, and the touring member label is never the main color, just look and litterally every other timeline with touring members (that hasn't been recently changed). The timeline was perfectly fine and redable before. Teddy2Gloves(talk)(contribs) 03:36, 13 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I would have to disagree. Please see the discussion we had on the WikiProject:Musicians page discussing the placement of touring member bars. I don't think that it should be viewed as the "main bar", it is simply an indicator. And to say that it was readable is simply false. It was not readable at all. for Urie or Weekes. I am reverting until this discussion is over. —DLManiac (talk) 03:41, 13 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Okay I've put together some alternate timelines to see if you like them. Also Wilson and Urie are moved up in join time to the same as smith and ross as they joined nearly immediately after creation. All the timlines are the same with different color schemes. I hope it is okay to put these here.Teddy2Gloves(talk)(contribs) 04:20, 13 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Timeline 1 (First Choice)
Timeline 2 (2nd Choice)
Definitely OK to put those here. Currently, I still prefer it to the way I have it, but I am certainly open to suggestions. The problem I have with these two is that it looks at initial glance that the bass position is completely gone. putting guitar + keys would be optimal were it not for the touring members. (Once again considering if those belong...) Let's talk about the roles that these guys play live. When we have Urie marked for Vocals, bass, guitar, and keyboards, which of these does he actually play live as opposed to just on the records? This might give us something to go off of. — DLManiac (talk) 04:52, 13 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
In defense of my timeline (minus maybe the location of the touring designation) It is most definitely easier to read, and includes all information without loss. All the bars are clearly visible. Which we definitely want. As far as size goes, height is not an issue on this page because it is specific to this page of band members, and does not make the page exceedingly long. Food for thought. — DLManiac (talk) 05:02, 13 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Currently Urie only performs vocals and "keyboards" (runs the samples) live, but plays all instruments on the record. Weekes plays bass vocals live, harris plays lead guitar and backing vocals live and Pawlovich play drums live. Urie is the only one who plays on records. Another things I was thinking is just have their main instrument listed. So for Urie on the timeline we could have Vocals, Lead Guitar and Keys and just leave all of his other instruments in the table above. So things like bass and drums for Urie, or guitar for walker or keys, guitar and the many (many) other instruments weekes preforms would be left out on the timeline but be in the table above. like this below.

Ok we are definitely heading in a better direction. I tweaked it a bit. — DLManiac (talk) 05:37, 13 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I think we should keep the guitars separate and the touring member label should be pink. (I also forgot to add keys to walker as he played them live.) I also changed Ross's guitar and vocal parts as he was not the primary vocalist. It also think the size can be 1000 has it is on a member page so it can be bigger. Nason had an incorrect leaving date as well.

I disagree completely about the touring color, and only somewhat about the size. The whole pint of the width being small is so that it looks good on all devices, and the fact that it's a member page is irrelevant, it just so happens that it has turned out that way on a lot of member pages. I agree on all other points. — DLManiac (talk) 23:59, 13 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

What if we made it 900? And I agree we can use yellow for touring members if you prefer it, it has always been my second choice anyway. Teddy2Gloves(talk)(contribs) 00:07, 14 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Good enough. (800 allows maximal optimization for mobile devices, but as I said, that can be rearranged later.) Here we go: —DLManiac (talk) 00:31, 14 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Okay I'm adding it now. Glad we got this worked out.Teddy2Gloves(talk)(contribs) 01:07, 14 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Weekes and Nason[edit]

Looking back at the previous discussion and seeing that the timeline is (for some reason) during live events, adding Keyboards to Dallon Weekes' line should also be included, as he significantly plays keys/synth, mainly on songs that are on Vices and Virtues. As for Nason's departure, he did leave at a New Years live show according to Nason himself, shown here, and is reliable by WP:RS: http://marchingclocks.tumblr.com/post/67207694815/with-the-surprise-success-of-their-first-album-a --"Hey there! How's it goin?" 03:17, 16 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The reason we have it like that for Weekes is that he no longer plays it a lot live, as most of it is played through a backing track, and it has been like that for the majority of his career. That is just a tumblr post with no reason for us to believe it's true so it's not an RP, mainly because it's not even his account, it is just a random fan blog.Teddy2Gloves(talk)(contribs) 16:28, 16 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I'll take your word on Nason, mainly because I can't find anything else on his departure other than the exact same quote on multiple different tumblr pages. But, I do feel that keys should be included at least somewhere in Weekes' line, as during V&V, he would always play keys live. --"Hey there! How's it goin'?" 16:55, 16 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I found an RS that proves Nason's departure at a New Years live show. The following is an archive of Nason's official website: https://web.archive.org/web/20150302031304/http://www.bartramnason.com/panic-at-the-disco 18:40, 16 January 2016 (UTC)--"Hey there! How's it goin'?"

Allright the source is good. But not keys for Weekes as we decided on that timeline as it is not to simple and not to complex. If Weekes were to play keys nearly every song and throughout his entire span with the band like Jon Walker it would be a better case. Teddy2Gloves(talk)(contribs) 01:24, 17 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I understand how it should be "not too simple and not too complex", but adding Keys to his line would not make his line complex at all, even if it was only part of his line. Weekes is known to play bass and keys live, although he rarely plays it live now, to the point where it really should not be excluded. The timeline is supposed to show the roles that each person played at what time. Weekes not playing keys "nearly every song throughout his entire span with the band" does not mean you should not include it, whatsoever. --"Hey there! How's it goin'?" 00:39, 20 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Also, Jon Walker didn't perform keys nearly every song throughout his entire span with the band live. It was always a switch between Brendon and Jon throughout different songs during a show, as well as their touring keyboardist Eric Ronick who was touring with the band for more than half of the time Walker was in the band according to the timeline. --"Hey there! How's it goin'?" 04:07, 21 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I'll add keys to Weekes. Teddy2Gloves(talk)(contribs) 01:47, 3 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Weekes has departed, the timeline needs updating[edit]

Weekes left the band as of December 2017 leaving Urie as the sole official member, also he was only a touring member at the time, i think the timeline should reflect this. Weekes AM Woody (talk) 10:16, 19 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Does this even merit a band member page?[edit]

There have only been six official members in the band's history. A Paramore band member page I created got deleted (they went through eight different official members and more touring members too). I don't believe this warrants a band member page. Kart2401real (talk) 00:11, 24 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
