Remediating this article[edit]

So, this article is over 100KB and is mostly in-universe, aside from a few things. Left unchecked, will continue to grow because more Red vs. Blue series are planned. I have a few ideas:

  • Vastly trim descriptions. As it is, we're repeating plot lines all over the place because multiple characters are going to be involved.
  • Condense and move descriptions of one-off characters to the episodes in which they appear.
  • Perhaps condense recast some entire sections as complete prose—for example, Project Freelancer and the AIs.
  • Obviously, source or remove any analysis.

There a number of GA and FA character articles that could serve as models. — TKD::{talk} 07:35, 30 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm working on more sources...the commentary and cast interviews on the Reconstruction DVD can cover several things, primarily information about the characters in Project Freelancer. If we get more sourced information on that front, would it be worth considering splitting that into a separate article? We could have all the information for those characters there and link to it from here; it would reduce size on this article as well. Dac (talk) 10:26, 30 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Preferably we'd also find third-party sources, before splitting. Having searched a while back, I'm not too optimistic on that front, though; the characters tend to be discussed in passing or as a group of dysfunctional personalities. I'd like to see condensation of the plot lines reiterated here first. It's probably unworkable to mention everything that a character gets involved in, so we should focus on the development angle, IMO, with a short summary of how the character fits into the story. I'm not precluding more standalone articles at this point, nor saying that we need to re-merge the standalone articles thatwe do have, but let's figure out what we have first in terms of real-world information. :) I'd like to see things worked from a top-down approach. In fact, that's why you haven't seen me around the Red vs. Blue articles much lately. I've been trying to whip machinima into GA shape and figure out what to do with list of machinima productions and list of machinima festivals, so that there's a good way to deal with less notable machinima works that still get a bit of mention here and there (but not enough to sustain a full article). — TKD::{talk} 10:44, 30 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough, and I understand what you mean; I've just been mostly unable to find any sources about Red vs Blue not covered by RT themselves, unfortunately. Will have a look at the plot summaries and do what I can there. Dac (talk) 22:00, 30 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe you could ask Luke Mckay, the artist for RT and the comic desiners. Or maybe ask Burine in a E-mail. Oh, was there a character in the series named "Elena"?--Usmc22 (talk) 14:47, 12 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This article needs some serious cleanup. Sarge's description has this line: "However, none of those he has operated on have died yet". Seriously??? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.12.183.130 (talk) 06:52, 13 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Merge with individual character articles[edit]

Neither of the characters in this video series is sufficiently individually notable to justify its own article. As such, the following articles should be merged into this list: Sarge (Red vs. Blue), Simmons (Red vs. Blue), Grif, Donut (Red vs. Blue), Church (Red vs. Blue), Tucker (Red vs. Blue), Caboose (Red vs. Blue), and Tex (Red vs. Blue). Neelix (talk) 15:03, 11 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I see no just cause for a merge. --24.184.200.190 (talk) 22:59, 20 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

According to guidelines, lack of notability is sufficient cause for deletion. Merging is simply preferable because it maintains edit history. Neelix (talk) 21:45, 30 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
however i think that's there's so much more to be added to the pages. so much more detail and what-not than whats there. i belive that the merge was a TERRIBLE idea and should be undone —Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.53.11.104 (talk) 03:27, 9 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

What has happened??!!![edit]

It used to be the case that this page was mainly for the one-off or minor characters, and that there were other pages for "Red Team", "Blue Team", "Freelancers and AIs" and stuff. Now those pages are gone, so what we are left with is giant long descriptions for irrelevant characters, and two or three sentence descriptions of the most important characters!!! Not to mention that a LOT of the information needs updating. --AndreRD (talk) 11:59, 19 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, there's something odd about seeing such a minor character like Max Gain have as much information as Church - who is (or was)unarguably the main character of the series. -- —Preceding unsigned comment added by 158.136.3.16 (talk) 21:13, 18 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

C.T.'s gender[edit]

It hasn't been confirmed that CT is in fact a woman. It could be possible that CT simply took her armor and identity (considering the value of her freelancer abilities). Point is, it's not confirmed, let's not jump to conclusions. --Anonymous —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.165.205.76 (talk) 03:32, 21 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

private jones[edit]

in rat's nest, people make fun of his name and mispronounce it because it is a less-used spelling, Joaness. If it was Jones that would make absolutely no sense to make fun of —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.94.41.126 (talk) 21:28, 23 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No, it is actually spelled Jones. I can't remember where RT confirmed it (possibly DVD commentary), but that is how it's spelled.--Drat (Talk) 00:29, 24 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The joke is mainly due to his accent. When he says it himself, it's clearly Jones — Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.12.183.130 (talk) 07:56, 12 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Death of Donut[edit]

Aren't we jumping the gun saying that Donut is dead? I know it was stated by Sarge, Doc, and Simmons, but there is the possibility he is still alive. Unless RT has confirmed it someplace that I'm not aware of...The Edit Corrector (talk) 03:17, 19 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Washington[edit]

So, given Wash's current... "situation" following Revelation... where does he fall? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 158.136.3.16 (talk) 02:50, 14 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Wouldn't it be best to put Washington under "unaffiliated" characters? He's been a Freelancer, he's worked directly for the UNFC, and is now a member of the Blue Team. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 158.136.3.16 (talk) 16:26, 14 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Meta's status[edit]

What happened to the Meta as of Revelation? Why did someone change it to "teparaly disabled (actual spelling)." It also says that he falls and is "frozain (actual spelling again)"I thought his status was deceased and that he fell to his death. Is there something I'm missing? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.103.177.119 (talk) 04:43, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Even his entry's gone. What the hell?? Why is there no entry on the Meta AI??? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.12.183.130 (talk) 07:59, 12 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
He's listed under Maine, his Project Freelancer name.--Drat (Talk) 10:48, 12 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Maine's the soldier who was implanted with the meta AI.But all the other AI's have mentions, except meta. Why's that? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.12.183.130 (talk) 06:47, 13 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Maine is still often referred to as The Meta (including by Washington) after the AIs were wiped. As for the AIs, let's wait until that's fleshed out later in the prequel storyline of Season 10.--Drat (Talk) 10:18, 13 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

York's First Name?[edit]

Where was that ever revealed? --67.252.49.31 (talk) 00:43, 13 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Seven years later, the answer remains, disappointingly, no, according to the latest on the Wikia. PvOberstein (talk) 05:37, 10 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Additional Info for Sheila the Tank[edit]

Recently, I listened through Rooster Teeth's podcast called "The Drunk Tank" in order to verify the info about the late Brittany Murphy being considered for the role of Sheila. I'm happy to say I located the specific date & episode number it refers to, but I want to ask if I could add the citation & modify the sentence already there to include the specifics. Grammar, spelling, real English, etc., etc..[edit]

Did the people who wrote this article ever take English lessons at school? On Wikipedia, as it is a major public source, bad grammar and incorrect spellings are unacceptable. So, what do you do? Fix it. Colabcalub (talk) 10:43, 12 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No shit man. This is the kind of nstuff on this page
  • Sarge:However, none of those he has operated on have died yet
  • Simmons:only member worthy of true military status
  • Griff:and a wise-cracking loudmouth to boot
  • the warthog is apparently a character????
  • Tucker appears to have excellent sight, because he never gets the sniper rifle.????

The list goes on

Clean some stuff up[edit]

There was a dead link in the external links (rvb.roostertooth.com), changed it to www.roostertooth.com. Actually, I deleted it at first, but then I actually looked for roostertooth and they just changed locations.

Also, it seems there's a duplicate paragraph repleted through the descriptions of the AIs, specifically "Also in Revelation it is revealed that all the AI survive in Epsilon's locked memories, using the memory of Delta as communicate for brief periods with the other Blues and Reds, mainly Caboose." It's found under Gamma, Theta, and Sigma. Wouldn't it be better to put this in the general description of the AIs? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.52.226.122 (talk) 17:35, 11 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Update Character Pictures[edit]

Can we update the pictures under the teams and maybe add some to other character sections. The other ones are outdated and don't contain every team mate, while Rooster Teeth have made updated ones.

Donald Doyle[edit]

The previous version of the Donald Doyle section relied highly on personal opinion. Everything has been erased except the only factual sentence. It needs to be rewritten soon. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kevin4789 (talkcontribs) 15:42, 5 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect[edit]

I've redirected this article to the main article: it's 160k of unencyclopedic and unverified fan cruft. Drmies (talk) 02:57, 25 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If I can give my opinion, the article is very accurate to the show. Since the show is a video series, there is no easy way to link to verifiable sources other than the videos themselves. The article is helpful to learn information on almost any character in the show. I know there are a group of people dedicated to cleaning this up and updating it as frequently as possible. -Kevin4789 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kevin4789 (talkcontribs) 05:08, 25 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

New Article[edit]

Since this article is already really big, my thought was we could create a new article, "List of inactive Red vs. Blue characters", which would include everything in section 5. Thoughts? Kevin4789 (talk) 21:39, 8 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It's not really that much bigger than many other long running TV shows such as List of The X-Files characters, List of Farscape characters, etc. If anything it might be beneficial to remove really minor characters that have been added over the years either entirely or make a separate article for recurring characters, thereby separating the multiple arc characters from single arc characters (which is sort of how it used to be until the Red Team and Blue Team articles were added to this page so there is already some opposition to that idea). Another option instead of active vs. inactive (something I did because the article was a mess chronologically and random editors were moving Carolina and Wash wherever they felt like at the time) we could make sections based on story line (i.e., a section for multiple arc characters, a section for Blood Gulch only characters, Freelancer-arc only, and Chorus War only) and keep it as a single article.
