can we change the channel lineup entirely?[edit]

this morning siriusxm carried out their massive MASSIVE overhaul of the system, some channels were added, and a few merged into exsisting channels due to similarity in programming content. so, can we please update this list? 198.99.92.253 (talk) 15:43, 4 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sirius[edit]

I added this entry today, but it doesn't look very good. I'm not terribly well versed in Wiki-tables, so I added as much information as I could for someone to pick up on and make this list look a lot better. RPIRED 00:17, 6 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Note: It would be nice to have links from this page leading to updated schedules for each channel which has scheduled programs since Sirius.com does not appear to provide one. Comment posted on article page by 4.154.114.208 (talk • contribs)

Move per WP:MOS-TM[edit]

I have moved this page from "List of SIRIUS Satellite Radio stations" to "List of Sirius Satellite Radio stations." This is to conform with the Manual of Style, which states "Follow standard English text formatting and capitalization rules even if the trademark owner encourages special treatment." All links to the old page have been redirected. --Aaron 23:09, 31 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

inconsistencies?[edit]

I have sirius and looking at this list there seem to be some inconsistencies. for example, on my sirius radio, there are two NPR stations, the channel Kidzstuff (or however it's spelt) is located under the pop category, and there is no "christian" category (spirit is under pop, revolution is under rock and praise is under hip-hop) - just to name a few. --Phil 00:06, 13 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, there's no reason that our list can't be more rationally put together than Sirius's own list (for example, putting the Christian channels together in one category), but you're absolutely right about the NPR Now channel being missing (I'll go add it) and I agree that the kid channel should be under Pop (I'll move that too). I'll leave the Christian section as-is for now, pending a consensus from others. --Aaron 00:24, 13 January 2006 (UTC) I'm going to have to retract what I just posted; Sirius's web site lists everything in a much different fashion than the way the receivers do. (And NPR Now is on our list, it's just in the news section instead of the talk section; the radios, of course, just lump everything into one "news/talk" category.) As for "Kids Stuff", the web site says it plays all sorts of stuff, not just music, so it shouldn't be listed on the radios in the pop section. I'm thinking perhaps our list is better left as it is. --Aaron[reply]
The old Sirius channel guides categorized the channels the same way as the receivers, but they put out a new channel guide when the Howard Stern channels were added that recategorized things a bit. The receivers still seem to show the old categories, though. DHowell 04:19, 13 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Those images look horrible and are barely recognizable at that size, and aren't even relevant to the stations tagged, as that label was only applied to musical albums (at least according to personal experience and the article.) If we were going to tag the "adult" channels, a different image would be more appropriate.

I however am agaisnt tagging any channels as "adult" because there is no rating system in place, and it would invariably become a POV dispute. RickoniX (talk) 07:22, 14 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sirius used to list certain channels as "possibly containing explicit content" but I don't know if they still do. In any case, I have to agree that tagging stations willy-nilly based on what we personally consider "explicit" is sort of a WP:NOR violation, and that the "parental advisory" graphic is improper in any case since the Howard channels are almost entirely music free. Unless we can find Sirius's own current list of explicit channels, I'd suggest not doing anything at all. And if we can find such a list, we definitely need a different graphic. --Aaron 08:00, 14 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Channels that contain adult language should have some form of tag advising as such. Some don't like the use of the current image (too small, horrible, etc) but we need something until a replacement is found. Not using a Parental Advisory type image because we can't agree on a design is like not using a baby seat in the car because it clashes with the interior!
As far as if we should tag adult content channels at all is also a concern mentioned here. If the language used by the DJ or content (song, joke, entertainment, etc) is something that would not be allowed by terrestrial broadcasters (monitored by the FCC, CRTC, etc), then it is adult content, not a POV concern, and should be tagged as such. For example, if an interviewer lets a guest know they don't have to monitor their language, "This is Satillite radio...," then they are opening up the 'airwaves' to adult content. This is not just the Howard Stern channels but also include some of the comedy channels and OutQ 109, a channel I listen to almost daily (so, I'm not gay-bashing, if that's what you think!).
Channels with adult content should be tagged with a Parental Advisory, and until we have a new tag design, let us use what we have now. CubBC (talk) 02:26, 6 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

sirius sports action?[edit]

I have never heard of this channel. is it a future channel or was it removed from the lineup? --Phil 21:56, 20 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I meant hardcore sports radio and now I see it's canada only. --Phil 18:35, 21 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

is the Hispanic Talk channel discontinued? channel 181 is now ESPN Hispanic --Phil 02:41, 25 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Stations[edit]

On the Sirius website, Buzzsaw is listed as "Classic Hard Rock" not "Hard Classic Rock". Octane is listed as "Pure Hard Rock" not "Hard Modern Rock".

Excuse the Changes[edit]

Please excuse the large amount of changes. I was trying to update the list according to the Sirius website.67.188.172.165 20:38, 28 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Canadian/U.S. receivers?[edit]

I've noticed that pre-Replay receivers have not gotten anything past 186 except for Playboy Radio (198) and they don't get 187, but any radio made after the Sportster Replay have the Canadian channels (e.g. Starmate Replay & Stiletto, so far)

Sirius Canada channels[edit]

I see a couple channels marked on this guide as available in Canada, but their guide says otherwise. Those channels are Sirius Patriot, NPR Talk, and CNN en Espanol. --Tv's emory 00:17, 20 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Weather Channel (Canada), channel 185 is NOT available in the US as the guide states.

Channel popularity rank?[edit]

The main article on Sirius mentions the top five most popular channels -- why not add a column to the list that shows the popularity rank of every channel? I'd love to see how my favorites compare to others. -- Psythik (talk) 05:15, 12 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

New changes announced for June 24, 2008[edit]

The final lineup was announced June 16th: http://www.sirius.com/channelchange

I'm not really confident in how to make the changes myself. Just wanted to point this out to someone.

Kire1975 (talk) 07:56, 17 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the update. Our receivers have been showing the wrong channels since the beginning of 2007. --KJRehberg (talk) 18:55, 17 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Add content for Bell Mobility Sirius subscribers[edit]

Is it possible to add another column to the grid that Bell Mobility in Canada offers? There are only 20 channels available in this package. I noticed an icon in the grid for Sprint Nextel and would like to see another wireless provider added. Thanks Phospher (talk) 05:44, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Errors on list[edit]

Led Zeppelin Radio has been broadcasting on Channel 12 since November 1, 2008, not Channel 33 as stated on the list. There are no plans for it to return to Channel 33 in the immediate future. The Bridge has moved temporarily to Channel 33. There has been uncomfirmed reports that either The Bridge or The Pulse may be axed after the new year. HelenWatt (talk) 23:24, 16 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

internet-only channels[edit]

I have a Sirius Canada subscription, and can't get any of these "internet-only" stations on my Sirius media player, so I changed all the checkmarks to red. If I'm wrong, please revert and post how I can listen to them! 209.196.230.72 (talk) 02:50, 1 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Upon further review, 801 and 802 are on there, not the others. 209.196.230.72 (talk) 04:15, 1 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Flawed list[edit]

Did a quick update here, but this list is still inaccurate. Your best bet is to check one of the 3 external links at the bottom, although Dish's website hasn't updated their channel list in a long time. 209.196.236.73 (talk) 19:05, 2 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Possible deletion of this article[edit]

Per discussions at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of AT&T U-verse channels and at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Television#Discussion about channel lineups in general, this article is probably also subject to deletion under a similar rationale. Just so ya know. --Chaswmsday (talk) 17:44, 1 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
