Mr. Slave's section[edit]

I noticed that the section refers to Mr. Slave and Big Gay Al's marriage as a civil partnership. As far as I'm aware, civil partnerships exist only in the UK, as same-sex MARRIAGE is not legal (the legal term for marriage is a "union between a man and a woman.") Please correct me if I'm wrong, however. Grieferhate (talk) 16:02, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed merger of Mr. Adler article into this article[edit]

I'd probably prefer for Mr. Adler to remain as a separate article, but with a summary and link here. --DH85868993 13:13, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Please could it be noted that Mr. Adler had only one notable appearence, Tweek vs. Craig. Despite a speaking role in Proper Condom Use and a cameo in The Return of Chef, he hasn't had as much as role as Starvin' Marvin, whom had his article redirected. I think we should do the same for Mr. Adler on the same criteria. ~Mr. Garrison
I'd also support the merging of Mr. Adler onto this page, there's not info on him to support a separate article. Tweeks Coffee 17:20, 20 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I have added some information to Mr. Adler's biography, but he definetely does not need an entire article. There is not enough information to create an entire article about him. - Spyke1077 19:39, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

One off characters[edit]

Do one time characters like Ms. Stephenson and the man who controlled South Park Elementary Closed Circuit Television belong here, or do they go in minor characters or not be mentioned at all?

I would say they could have small sections in here, one or two sentences max. They could probably go into one-off characters as well, with slightly longer bios. - Spyke1077 19:38, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

But the one-off characters article has since been deleted (whoever did that wasn't very bright, I don't think), so I think they should be put completely in here, in that case. Wilhelmina Will 00:17, 7 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Possible Beavis and Butt-head reference?[edit]

I have just realised something. Remember Mr. Van Driessen from Beavis and Butt-head? He also shared Mr. Mackey's habit of constantly ending sentences with "m'kay", and, having just read that Mike Judge gave advice to Trey Parker and Matt Stone when South Park was just starting, I believe this is a reference to the B&B character! The fact that Beavis and Butt-head started (and ended) before South Park makes it even more likely. So, how about giving it a mention, then? 172.213.139.148 15:56, 8 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

We'd better wait till it's verifiable. I've given this advice to many other users: go to SouthParkstudios.com, and go to the FAQ section, then ask about it. Be sure to log in there first, coz I don't think they answer to anonymous users. Wilhelmina Will 00:14, 7 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Mr. Mackey has always reminded me of Dr. Phil, but I think he only became known after South Park started. Probably just a coincidence. 220.235.131.140 (talk) 18:01, 20 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Ms.Janet Garrison.JPG[edit]

Image:Ms.Janet Garrison.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

BetacommandBot 00:02, 7 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My question is why is there even an image of Janet out here, anyway? She has her own article, and there's a much better image of her in there, I should say. If an image only shows off part of a character, don't leave it at that! Try your hardest to find a better image. Like with Veronica's image. It only shows her head sticking over the back of the bus driver's seat. That is not nearly enough. But if there's a suitable image already in the main article (or any image, in fact) then for heaven's sake, don't put another, worse one outside of it!!! Redundancies, people! Redundancies! Ms. Ellen from S01E11[edit]

Hi, we're missing 1 teacher here, anyone wanna make an entry on Ms. Ellen? Robin.lemstra (talk) 13:36, 15 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yup... Ms. Elen is missing, a substitute teacher when Mr. Garrison was absent due to his nose job. She was actually a criminal Iraq fugitive and lesbian. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nanzai (talkcontribs) 01:32, 23 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I challenge this entire article[edit]

It's 100% original research. How long until I can delete everything that nobody can be fussed to cite? Jtdunlop (talk) 10:59, 17 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Images?[edit]

Mr. Derp[edit]

The author claims that "derp" is used as a NOUN/PRONOUN with respect to its use online as a minor meme. This is bullshit. it is NOT used in this way ANYWHERE. it is ALWAYS used as a sort of "abstract" generic term to CHARACTERIZE an image macro... Most commonly an image/picture in which the eyes of the subject of the image are strangely oriented (possibly looking in opposite directions)... along with the word "derp." Despite the fact that what I just wrote is ABSOLUTE TRUTH, and UNDENIABLE... and the FACT that the Author's claim is ABSOLUTELY FALSE... both constitute original research and SHOULD NOT BE INCLUDED! Instead: "derp has become a minor internet meme in which the term is used in text based discussions and image macros." those are facts. no original research, no opinions... just a survey of google image results for "derp"24.254.87.238 (talk) 15:19, 7 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Merge idea[edit]

Hi, I'm an editor of Hungarian Wikipedia. I have an idea: merge this article with the South Park students article and rename it, like "List of students and staff at South Park Elementary". And only keep Mr. Garrison, Chef (as a redirect), Mr. Slave, Ms. Choksondik and Mr. Mackey. You can make an "Other characters" section for Richard Adler, Ms. Claridge, Mr. Derp, Nurse Gollum, Veronica Lee Crabtree and Principal Victoria. See the Hungarian article for further information. And sorry for my English, it's not 100%. - 89.135.144.201 (talk) 21:41, 24 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

That sounds like a reasonable solution to this. That is, figuring out the important characters and putting it all in one place. The Sound and the Fury (talk) 05:22, 27 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Current/past staff[edit]

Isn't this basically an in-universe distinction, which will make no sense once the series stops? I think the two lists should be merged. Mezigue (talk) 10:20, 18 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Problem[edit]

This article has no references and reads like a high-school essay. Should it be seriously cut down? I got here from a link to the Mr. Mackey section. It seems like it's been in this state for many years. Do we just leave it? AfD it? Reduce it to some kind of bare bones version? This flies in the face of how I usually use and understand Wikipedia. It's like someone has just sat down and thought: I'm going to write about all the South Park Elementary characters, then simply let loose. Thoughts welcome. The Sound and the Fury (talk) 05:21, 27 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'm wondering whether it's the case simply that no one had the heart to lay down the law on this article. And as I look upon it, I'm wondering the same about myself. The Sound and the Fury (talk) 05:23, 27 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Having seen this debate and the arguments therein, I think what I will do, unless I can be persuaded otherwise, is go through this and seriously trim it down. To about one sentence per character. The Sound and the Fury (talk) 20:41, 31 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I've started. I'll wait for anyone to start screaming if they object to what I'm doing. All unsourced information may be deleted. The Sound and the Fury (talk) 19:28, 7 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

When done purging this I will propose a merge with the main list of characters. The Sound and the Fury (talk) 13:13, 12 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
