Feel free to add synopses, production numbers and airdates. Bobfos 13:07, 9 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Spoiler tags[edit]

I'm just wondering, are the spoiler warnings really necessary? I made and continue to make sure to avoid mentioning anything in them besides the basic idea of what goes on. Gladrius

Hi. I've removed the spoiler tags. I was going through the episode lists I've made, so they conform to WP:LOE and I probably got carried away. They say you should put spoiler tags if you give plot synopses, but i guess these are teasers and, as you say, you've gone to the trouble of avoiding spoilers so spoiler tags aren't really needed. Good work by the way, it's nearly complete now.

Broadcast dates[edit]

Are these air dates confirmed? I remember the first episode being shown on LWT in London on Sunday 9th Oct 1983 - I remember this because it was the day before I started a new school. In addition if it was on LWT, it couldn't have been on the 3rd as that's a Monday - LWT (London Weekend Television) only broadcast at weekends and from 5pm on Fridays? Just to come back to this after two years, I notice the dates have now been changed to show the first air date as Saturday the 8th October. I vividly recall watching this first episode on LWT on Sunday the 9th and after searching found a reference. On page 18 of the "New Scientist", dated 6 Oct 1983 it states that, "Terrahawks starts on independent television at 4.30pm, 9 October" (This page is available on Google Books: http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=F0aIiC-z5_kC&pg=PA18&lpg=PA18&dq=terrahawks+lwt+original+broadcast+october+1983&source=bl&ots=mUdlvdhdpC&sig=W4mOJAokqRoiup4_Su9H_zaHbiY&hl=en&ei=QlljTtvSH5SxhAe-9YCsCg&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=10&ved=0CGsQ6AEwCQ#v=onepage&q&f=false). Can anyone confirm this with another source? Jckcip (talk) 11:01, 4 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi. Thanks for commenting here, since there does seem to be some confusion as to when Terrahawks first appeared on UK TV. It was I who, a while ago, changed the first broadcast date to Saturday 8th October 1983 (to honour the source that I was citing - Bentley's The Complete Gerry Anderson: The Authorised Episode Guide). I think that I have an explanation for the disparity surrounding 8th and 9th October: according to Bentley and others, the earlier date marks the series première of Terrahawks in the ITV Central (formerly ATV Midlands) region - it would seem that the first LWT broadcast was a day later. The 2002 biography of Anderson by Simon Archer and Marcus Hearn (ISBN 9780563534815) is fairly clear on the subject: "The series premièred in the Central region (the company that had taken over the ATV Midlands franchise) on Saturday 8 October 1983" (p. 250). By contrast, page 195 of the first edition of the biography, published in 1996 (ISBN 9780099781417), offers a date of Sunday 9th October; this is incorrect according to this website. I'll see about editing the article to pair up broadcast dates with particular broadcast regions - we could also clarify that the LWT première followed the Central première. With regard to the Series One episodes, Bentley's The Authorised Episode Guide elaborates: "Episodes premièred on Central on Saturday mornings from October 8th and were then screened by the majority of other regions on Sunday afternoons..." This would explain the Sunday 9th October date given in the New Scientist source. SuperMarioMan 20:45, 4 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
