Episode summaries[edit]

I have removed most of the episode summaries as they were copyright violations as per the copyright violation policy. I haven't got the time to write up ones of my own; hopefully someone else can do this – rather than reverting my edits. Cycle~ (talk) 22:59, 23 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No need for a new section I suppose. Anyway, I've just gone ahead and done some summaries for episodes 4, 5 and 6 in series 1. I've had to piece these together from the catch-up pictures and article on E4's websites, so it would be great if people who have seen these episodes stepped up and expanded the summaries. Thanks. ;-)

I'm sure I could finish off the S1 synopses – but it'd have to wait until after my dissertation is handed in tomorrow (perhaps I shouldn't be Wikipediaing...). I think that the S2 blurbs could be cut down a bit – we ought not to give them undue weight just because the series is broadcasting now. I think we should see List of Peep Show episodes as a benchmark, due to its similarity and featured list status. Cycle~ (talk) 21:53, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'm cool with the summaries being cut down a bit. It's just that when I get writing about a subject I like, I just write and write. :-P But yeah, if you could get something better on the series 1 episodes done, that would be great.
Wisijane 22:04, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Just shortened the series 2, episode 1 summary. Better? I'll happily shorten them all to that length.

Series 3 episode summaries are very poor - badly written, bad grammar and too narrative/subjective. Would be great if someone could re-write. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.3.187.153 (talk) 20:23, 26 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

4oD[edit]

"Episodes of the first series can be viewed by United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland viewers through Channel 4's service 4oD."
Can someone confirm this? Because all I can see on 4oD is episodes of the second series. The reference link also just takes you 4oD's home page.
Wisijane (talk) 17:07, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I can't comment on the installed version of 4oD (where you can download episodes) as P2P is disabled in my internet package. However, 4oD Catch-Up (browser-based) only seems to have the second series. I'm not even sure if the inclusion of the statement (however it's worded) is particularly relevant to the article. Cycle~ (talk) 18:32, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
And here's a link to the Inbetweeners section on 4oD catch-up. Note the "4oD Catch-Up - All Episodes (4)". Cycle~ (talk) 18:33, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Right, I'm-a just go delete that then. I suppose the little tidbit about episodes on iTunes could be considered as being a deletable part also, but I don't want to go around deleting things out of the blue.
Wisijane (talk) 21:17, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I've deleted the iTunes stuff – there's something about it that seemed a bit "promotionally", as if it had been written in a sort of "look, go and watch it!" way. I had a quick look at the List of Skins episodes and List of Peep Show episodes – neither of which have anything similar. I don't see a problem with mentioning when it airs usually (on what channel etc) or DVD releases. Cycle~ (talk) 22:23, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Table colours[edit]

Is there logic for the rave-coloured table backgrounds? I find it really difficult to read – the purple/black contrast is odd, and the lime green is really intense. If the colours link to the series (like at the List of Peep Show episodes) then fair enough, but I'm not sure they do. Cycle~ (talk) 22:23, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

They don't really. The green seems completely randomly chosen; the purple could be considered as a colour for the table because the series' main colour seems to be purple. (Still not the right shade of purple, however.) Feel free to experiment with some colours. Maybe one table purple and another white?
Wisijane (talk) 22:56, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I've just gone ahead and changed the second series' table colour to grey; it suits much more than the randomly picked green and I suppose it could be considered one of the show's main colours after purple. Hope this is okay with everyone.

Peer review[edit]

Hey everyone. Now, as you may have guessed from the template at the top of the page, I recently put this article forward for a peer review (see here.) Ruhrfisch was able to give some detailed comments, and I managed to fix a number of the non-prose problems. There are, however, several points I have not got around to yet, and it would be great if people lent a hand with fixing the following things:

  • Language is awkward in places and needs a copyedit - for example In order to impress his new-found friends, Will attempts to, illegally (because he is underage) purchase alcohol. could just be something like Trying to impress his new-found friends, the underage Will attempts to illegally purchase alcohol. (Wisijane note: I have done this particular example, but I'm sure there are more in there somewhere.)
  • There are a number of jargon terms which I was not familiar with - bunk off for one, or briefcase mong. I would link bunk off to truancy. Not sure about the other. See WP:JARGON (Wisijane note: I have done this particular example, but I'm sure there are more in there somewhere.)
  • There are also places where the language is not very encyclopedic - "winds up" in winds up Neil's dad about being gay for one. I would read WP:IN-U especially and the whole Wikipedia:Manual of Style (writing about fiction) (Wisijane note: I have done this particular example, but I'm sure there are more in there somewhere.)
  • Refs 3 and 4 are to amazon.com - is this a reliable source?

Basically, we need to do some copyediting and find reliable sources to take the place of the amazon.com references. As I said when asking for the review; I firmly believe that this article is pretty close to Featured List status, and I think it would be great if we could get it up to there sometime. :-)
