A very short list[edit]

The list is very short. There have been a lot more operators of the Viscount. The excellent Vickers Viscount Network http://vickersviscount.net/default.aspx lists over 570 Viscount operators

All of your additions as of 23:52, 4 November 2015 refer to exactly the same Internet page, none of them showing any specific source for the respective operator entry. Unless you can provide reliable sources, your additions, most of them concerning questionable "operators" like "318975 Ontario Ltd" or "Aeroelectronica", will probably have to be removed completely. --Uli Elch (talk) 12:18, 5 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The Vickers Viscount Network has a single page where individual operator records are accessed from a selection window. That is why each individual operator is named as the title in the citation. The Vickers Viscount Network is by far the best information site available for the Viscount. There is a complete production list by c/n. It has a detailed history of every airplane built (by c/n or registration) and a history of Viscounts used by every operator. The home page carries the following notice: "This website is regularly archived by the British Library who selectively archive websites with research values that are representative of British social history and cultural heritage."

To provide an example of the coverage provided by The Vickers Viscount Network we can examine the history of the aircraft operated by 318975 Ontario Ltd.:

"January 1982 to May 1982 318975 Ontario Ltd

CF-TIC - c/n 383 - a V.757 series Viscount Canada registered January 1982 Purchased from Pier 1 Aviation but the aircraft remained stored at Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

27 May 1982 Canadian Certificate of Registration cancelled due to a change of ownership.

27 May 1982 Sold to 515489 Ontario Ltd, 1816-1850 York Street, Toronto, Ontario, Canada."

The entry for 515489 Ontario is:

"515489 Ontario Ltd owned and/or operated Viscount aircraft from January 1982 until January 1983.

17 January 1983 Canadian Certificate of Registration cancelled as aircraft exported."

17 January 1983 Sold to Air Charter Service.

And for Air Charter Service the record is:

"owned and/or operated Viscount aircraft from January 1983 until January 1988.

Listed in date order when the aircraft joined the fleet. Some aircraft may have joined the fleet several times with the same or different registrations, and some registrations have been used on more than one aircraft (*).

The source is very thorough. Viscount 757 , c/n 383, CF-TIC first flew 23 June 1958. It was operated by TAC/Air Canada until April 1993 and was sold to Beaver Enterprises Ltd in April 1974. It then went to Harrison Airlines in 1977. Then Pier 1 Aviation from 1978 to 1982. Pier 1 sold it to the oddly named 318975 Ontario Ltd.

Viscount c/n 383 was flown by Air Charter Service as 9Q-CGQ until Jan. 1988 when it went into storage.

For the record the last flight ever made by a Viscount was in D.R. Congo by Global Airways (D.R. Congo) 802 c/n 170 Registration 9Q-COD in Jan. 2009. It was a ferry flight from Kisanggani where it was based to Lubumbashi where it was sold to GTRA Airways circa 2011. The last report received by the Vickers Viscount Network was 23 Oct. 2012 which reported the airplane was in poor condition.

The location of the airport 9Q-COD made it's last takeoff was reported at: http://www.airliners.net/aviation-forums/general_aviation/read.main/4633182/

So why not specify the correct links directly? Examples: 318975 Ontario Ltd or this one for Aeroelectronica --Uli Elch (talk) 15:35, 6 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I have to object to the recent additions as clearly most of them are not "operators" but holding companies and sales organisations, suggest we prune it back to the actual operators, thanks. MilborneOne (talk) 18:30, 6 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Note that http://www.vickersviscount.net is a self-published website and is not a reliable source in wikipedia terms so we need to find another source to replace it, thanks. MilborneOne (talk) 18:36, 6 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
