Hey[edit]

Off the top of my head, I can't think of any mutants who can't be classified into any of those camps. Can you give me an example? The table looks good, though.  Paul  730 14:11, 1 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Weapon X experiments for one, and Angel, who doesn't really become a student. Alientraveller 14:32, 1 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sebastien Shaw also had a cameo. Alientraveller 14:32, 1 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Shaw had a cameo??!! When?? You could dump the Weapon X's with the humans, since they're fighting Stryker's war. Nightcrawler should maybe be with the X-Men, as should Angel. I know they're not "official" X-Men, but they fought by their side.  Paul  730 14:44, 1 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I tried "Other mutants". I think that's fine. Alientraveller 15:36, 1 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Should we include the actor who was cast as Gambit but his scene was cut from X2? The Harry Potter list includes Peeves, who was deleted. What about Iceman and Jean's families? Alientraveller 15:53, 1 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I felt with adding Gambit, why not? Alientraveller 16:10, 1 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
If you have a source for the character, why not. I'd just put that sidenote that he was deleted from the film.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 16:38, 1 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I added some info on the origins of Jones' and Flea's characters. If that's innappropiate info for a list, feel free to delete it or move to another page. BTW, I checked the credits for X2, and it only mentioned a "Dr Shaw". While I feel it's obvious that this is a reference to Sebastian Shaw, are we allowed to make that connection without a source? At the very least, he should be referred to as "Dr Shaw" on this page, unless we have a source calling him by his first name.  Paul  730 06:01, 4 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Deadpool[edit]

Why is Deadpool listed under "Other Mutants"? It is my understanding that Wilson gained his healing factor through experimentation. —Preceding unsigned comment added by SSJ Gokan (talkcontribs) 18:44, 31 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Cameos in First Class[edit]

Cyclops and Storm are mentioned as cameos in First Class. I have read this rumour in the IMDb boards (in reference to the scene where Xavier uses Cerebro), but they are not credited, and considering the timeline of the previous movies it is highly doubtful that the characters were actually them. I think they should be removed. 203.208.67.34 (talk) 15:13, 6 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Gambit in X2[edit]

Where can I found this deleted scene of Gambit, portrayed by James Banford, he said this scene are in the DVD extras. I try to find this scene but i can't. Must be existing a website with this cene. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.84.79.138 (talk) 15:17, 11 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Change Title[edit]

The title of this article just doesn't sound right to me. Would it be better for it to be "List of X-Men film cast members", "List of X-Men cast members", or "List of X-Men film series cast members"? Alphius (talk) 20:11, 1 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. I would support the title List of X-Men film series cast members. --121.218.45.245 (talk) 06:10, 3 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

References[edit]

It seems odd that the actors have references for the three most recent films but not for the first three films. Obviously, this is because the references were not deleted after the release of the films. Should references for later released films be deleted or added for earlier released films. --121.218.45.245 (talk) 06:10, 3 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned references in List of X-Men films cast members[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of List of X-Men films cast members's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "cinefex":

  • From X-Men: The Last Stand: Duncan, Jody (July 2006). "Dark Phoenix Rising". Cinefex (106): 36–65.
  • From X-Men: First Class: Duncan, Jody (July 2011). "First Class Effects". Cinefex (126): 96–120. Retrieved June 5, 2012. (subscription required)

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 02:50, 14 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Correction needed on character names[edit]

This film series is infamous for being confusing to the average viewer. Originally conceived as individual stand-alone installments, the series could more easily get away with this. Overtime however, the films were retroactively corrected by director Bryan Singer within the X-Men: Days of Future Past movie. In order for the average viewer/reader of this page and this site, the list of characters and their actors should be consistent in format. Many times there are multiple characters within Marvel Comics that use the same alias. In order for this clarification to take place, each mutant character needs to have both their real/birth names, as well as their alias 'code/superhero' names listed. For instance, within the Marvel Comics, there is more than one character that uses the alias name 'Quill', and therefore by listing his real name here would clarify which version of the character appears in the film. This is a format which has been used for other superhero universe character/actor listings and clarifies timelines within movies. This information on top of the fact that within the first X-Men movie it is discussed to great length that mutants take on alias names once their mutant powers are acquired, aught to be more than enough to have a consistent listing. I have attempted to correct this several times both within this page, as well as the individual films' cast listings as well, only to have them re-set by another editor. Burningblue52 (talk) 16:05, 21 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The fact is, this list is for the films, not the comics, which means we have to stick to what is in the films. You are thinking if some of the characters have code names, then they all should have code names, for consistency. But you should be thinking, some characters are referred to here as they are in the films, so they all should be referred to here as they are in the films. For consistency. I hope that makes sense. - adamstom97 (talk) 23:27, 22 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Storyline Chronology[edit]

To head off what will probably be an argument, let me state here the various dates listed in the "Storyline Chronology" section by TotalTruthTeller24 that I believe constitute WP:OR and WP:SYNTH:

Days of Future Past post credit scene: Year 3652 BCE is never mentioned.

X-Men Origins Wolverine: Only one scene takes place in World War I, yet the years 1917-1918 are mentioned. Which one is it? The film doesn't tell us.

X-Men Origins Wolverine: The year 1975 is never mentioned, so the "Six Years Later" scenes cannot be accurately dated.

X-Men The Last Stand: 1986, 1996. The film only indicates "Ten years ago" and "Twenty Years ago". Since we have no information that the main part of the film is in 2006, this is original research.

X-Men: Listed as 2003. The film itself simply says "the not too distant future"

The Wolverine: 2007. Absolutely no reference to this date in the film.

Deadpool: 2015-2016: No reference to either of those dates in the film.

Deadpool 2 in 2018: Really? And we know this how? This would also be WP:CRYSTAL

Add to all of that, that the whole idea of this is incredibly fancruft and it doesn't belong on a Wikipedia page. Rcarter555 (talk) 00:36, 3 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I was told by another user to put the Storyline Chronology here because they didn't want it on the main page, and this is the only X-Men film-related page to make a note of the timelines. There's not Point in Putting Orginal & Altered Timeline without something explaining what they are. Total-Truth-Teller-24 (talk) 00:01, 3 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

First of all, don't EVER change the wording of something I (or anyone else) writes on a talk page. Do it again and I will report you. And you removed my signature, so that my comment was no longer assigned to me. This is NOT ALLOWED.

Secondly, just because someone didn't want it on the main page, doesn't mean that it belongs here. I defy anyone to explain what "Storyline Chronology" has to do with "List of X-Men films cast members". And, since you say there's no point in putting Original and Altered Timeline without explaining what they are, perhaps there's no reason at all to put "Original and Altered Timeline" at all. Does that have anything to do with the list of cast members? I'll get on that. Rcarter555 (talk) 00:36, 3 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Another attempt to add this doesn't pass muster. The references used (at least the first two) do NOT support the years suggested (36652 BCE) and the argument about the Vietnam war violates WP: SYNTH. The years are not listed anywhere in the films.

But more importantly, what does "Storyline Continuity" have to do with the article entitled "List of X-Men films cast members"? If this list serves any purpose (I'm not sure it does beyond fancruft), wouldn't it be better served on the main "X-Men Franchise" page? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rcarter555 (talkcontribs) 20:42, 2 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Layout change to be made[edit]

Currently, the article is broken in two ways: it is broken into old timeline and new timeline, and also split by the movie in which the character first appears. This layout makes this article _less_ useful than a simple table with the various characters in the rows and the 10 movies in the columns. Don't include the movies not yet released: until the movies are out we can't be entirely sure what characters are in them. I'll leave this here for a week to hear counterarguments, but after that I'll "be bold" and make the fix. Ordinary Person (talk) 02:06, 7 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Characters in Table[edit]

I know this discussion has happened before, but can we please discuss the notion that only characters that appear in THREE or more X-Men related films appear in the table? It says so VERY clearly on the opening banner, but some editors choose to ignore that.Rcarter555 (talk) 16:39, 19 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The banner CAN be changed, but shouldn't that happen only after a consensus has been reached? I don't really care, as this seems a worthless article to begin with, but there are rules here...Rcarter555 (talk) 18:17, 19 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Article title[edit]

Wouldn't List of X-Men (film series) cast members be a better title for this article? There is precedent for this at Category:Lists of actors by film series. InfiniteNexus (talk) 21:11, 16 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see the precedent. There is List of The Chronicles of Narnia (film series) cast members, List of Saw (franchise) cast members, and List of Scream (film series) cast members, but there's also List of Batman films cast members, List of Spider-Man film cast members, List of Star Wars cast members, List of The Twilight Saga cast members, etc. Most don't use parentheticals. —El Millo (talk) 21:25, 16 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The Batman and Spider-Man ones are so named because they encompass multiple series, while Star Wars and The Twilight Saga lack the word film because that would be an unnecessary disambiguation. Things could get complicated for this article title when the X-Men debut in the MCU (i.e. do we include them in here as well?). InfiniteNexus (talk) 22:14, 16 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Definitely not include any MCU version here. Until that happens though, the title is correct. After that, wouldn't the title but without the parentheticals work? I mean List of X-Men film series cast members. —El Millo (talk) 22:18, 16 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that would work too. InfiniteNexus (talk) 22:26, 16 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Let's just move it there. —El Millo (talk) 22:58, 16 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

 Done. —El Millo (talk) 23:01, 16 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Xcellent. You accidentally left an extra "s" after "film", so I fixed that. InfiniteNexus (talk) 03:30, 17 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, thank you for fixing that. Moved it too quickly. —El Millo (talk) 03:57, 17 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

it is Ellen Page, not Elliot Page[edit]

all references to Elliot Page as Kitty Pryde needs to stop changing the fact that all movies, films, and dvds, fhs, and hard theater releases show the name as Ellen Page, not Elliot. stop changing them to suit the transgender ideology. She may go by that name now, but changing the name as such confuses readers.

also, the actor who played Iceman, Kitty's boyfriend, said if he would have know she was hiding the fact she wanted to be a man, he would never had done scenes with her/him much less kiss a man. Seadansr (talk) 05:02, 2 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
