Table Alignment[edit]

Thanks, TKB -- you beat me to it, and saved me a bit more work! Mhking 03:41, 17 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Just saw this. It just looked better if it was aligned better --TravKoolBreeze 01:14, 15 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

On the Rocks?[edit]

Did it really come back? I can't find it on my dial, at 79, or anywhere...I think the article needs an update. tharsaile 02:51, 12 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It never came back. --Tv's emory 21:13, 12 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Regional News and Talk[edit]

For now, the future of these channels is unsure, and I recommend they stay off the main page until Clear Channel or XM has a launch date prepared, if ever.

XM Canada[edit]

I decided to give the XM Canada lineup its own page. Reasons being that the filesize of this article was growing quite a bit, and the recent addition of XM Canada channels to cell phones would've required another column. The page is located at List of XM Radio Canada channels. If anyone disagrees, they can revert back and I can erase the XM Canada list. --Tv's emory 03:04, 9 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • I don't mind. Too many columns would be confusing to readers, esp. with xm online not being equal between the two countries. TravKoolBreeze 16:59, 10 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oprah & Friends[edit]

A preview loop for the channel started to air on July 17. Should we leave it as coming soon or move it into the active list?--TravKoolBreeze 08:40, 17 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

National Lampoon Radio[edit]

Where did you hear about National Lampoon Radio, I've not found anything about it on xmradio.com, or Orbitcast?

  • A memeber on xmfan.com posted a screen cap of the channel list that stated this. This is the thread I'm referring to.TravKoolBreeze 05:22, 4 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • As of right now GM's XM page has a pdf of the channel listing featuring national lampoon radio and it's description. TravKoolBreeze 01:35, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Extreme XM[edit]

Isn't 151 programmed by Clear Channel? If so, it should get the teal triangle. --Bill.matthews 15:38, 28 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Laugh USA? No it's not. --Tv's emory 20:31, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Oh. Extreme? You mean 152. Yes it is, but the teal triangle is just to indicate commercials on a music channel. --Tv's emory 20:31, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Font Size[edit]

Are you sure this font size is easily readable by all? The font size causes a strain on my eyes. TravKoolBreeze 01:04, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It's not on my monitor, but I seem to have some special case for a monitor. Font reverted.

XM Radio Mobile[edit]

Should another column be added to list the channels on Cingular and Alltel? TravKoolBreeze 05:45, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sure. --Tv's emory 20:05, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

20 on 20 and Hitlist[edit]

What formats will we list these channels? It seems the true CHR channel will be 20 on 20 and Hitlist will be more of the 2000s hit music like the 90s on 9. TravKoolBreeze 11:24, 4 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Big East[edit]

I now have Big East on 200. Is this permanent? -newkai t-c 01:19, 4 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No, it's not. XM200 is XM Live. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by NightRider63 (talkcontribs) 22:19, 14 March 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Disambiguator[edit]

I notice channels are diambiguated with "(XM)". Wouldn't "(radio station)" or "(radio channel)" be more recognisable? (The same as we use Alex James (musician) instead of Alex James (Blur), for example. -- Chuq 00:04, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I keeps in tradition of other stations that will have either (AM), -TV or -FM.TravKoolBreeze 12:41, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Larry King[edit]

The Larry King channel is playing through the end of this week. Should this be on the channel list, till the end of the week. Then after that put in the channel history article?Flap Jackson 03:13, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

NHL Channels[edit]

I'm curious about the Canadian flag icon being shown for the NHL channels (204 and 205-209). While it's true that the channels are based in Canada, these channels are just as much for U.S. listeners as they are for Canadians. The "Symbols" chart at the bottom of the page states that the Canada flag icon represents "Content specifically created for XM Radio Canada's satellite broadcast." This is not the case in the NHL channels, and therefore, I don't think the flag should be shown on those channels. Of course, this is just my opinion, which is why I'm adding it to the discussion rather than going ahead and removing the icon from those channels. The XM Scoreboard (XM-243) is another example, although a minor example. The channel originates in Canada, but they cover U.S. scores as well, so it is not "specifically created for XM Radio Canada's satellite broadcast." Any thoughts? Maybe the definition of the Canadian flag icon should be changed instead to "say channels that originate from Canada"? BucsWeb 00:08, 15 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ya, I do agree. I'll change it to properly reflect. TravKoolBreeze 06:00, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Logos?[edit]

Should we add a colum of the channel logos? Just an interesting thought.

No, doesn't make sense. TravKoolBreeze 21:26, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I like the idea. The logos are attractive and would help set things apart nicely. Rtphokie 15:32, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

AOL Free/Premium channels?[edit]

Should we have different color check marks for the free aol channels and the premium aol channels? Mydotnet 00:27, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I would say no because, as I remembered, the free AOL channels rotate. TravKoolBreeze 21:25, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fox Business Channel[edit]

Any news on whether XM will simalcast Fox Business Channel? If so, has there been a channel number selected? Because it seems that they would have to put it on 135, unless they cut a news channel in the near future. It seems logical that XM would carry the channel since they broadcast every other Fox News outlet. Flap Jackson 00:44, 27 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

New Channel Lineup[edit]

Should we really change the channel list to reflect the leaked list that is on Orbitcast? This isn't confirmed, it's just leaked. For all we know it could be a fake. We need something official like from the XM or GM website. Somebody needs to remove the rumored lineup. Flap Jackson 00:21, 1 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Never mind. XM just made it official on their website. Flap Jackson 02:03, 3 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Color Distinguishing[edit]

I think we need to distinguish the color of the triangles better. The teal looks too close to the grey. Flap Jackson 18:14, 2 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Icons on grid[edit]

I suggest the icon for radio broadcast channels () be changed to something that better represents the technology involved in satellite radio. The "olde timey" radio seems kind of ironic.. maybe a picture of a current XM radio or better yet just a satellite? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.29.237.215 (talk) 14:06, August 27, 2007 (UTC)

If an Icon of a satellite can be found and have the fair use rationale put with it, I would say go ahead.TravKoolBreeze 23:57, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'll second that. NightRider63 21:23, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

MIX 22[edit]

Is there a particular reason MIX 22 and the other comercial stations are off the list? I added MIX 22 but wanted to see if there was a rationale for their exclusion. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Halcyonforever (talkcontribs) 18:38, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Check lower in the grid in the section of Regional Music...TravKoolBreeze 04:19, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Holiday Channels[edit]

I think after this year's holiday channels go off, we should just comment out the section instead of deleting it as we usually do. TravKoolBreeze 13:18, 25 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed idea for merged channel guide, if needed[edit]

I've retracted my proposal. I don't think they need to be merged anymore --Tv's emory (talk) 03:22, 14 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I still like the category idea if there is to be only one guide. Also, the numbers aren't that hard to remap. As the rest of it goes, it sounds like a good idea. But it's best to wait until something offical comes out before making wholesale changes such as these or any others.
TravKoolBreeze (talk) 02:27, 3 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The XM lineup is in. Now we just have to wait for Sirius. --66.151.166.5 (talk) 17:41, 11 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Now that the lineups are out, we can discuss how to present the new article. The new channels are not identical on both, which makes the alphabetical list more appealing. We could still group them into categories. Then again, maybe the lineups are just different enough where we don't need to combine them after all. Especially in the sports section. --Tv's emory (talk) 07:55, 12 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
If we do merge the articles, I would support an alphabetical lineup. It wouldn't be service bias since numbers would be out of order either way. I still like the category idea since it wouldn't become a massive search list to find what a person needs. If we are going by categories, I would say to go by how XM service has it listed (Pop then country then etc.)
As for some other articles that would be involved, the templates could be merged as well. The list of XM and Sirius removals should merger but it may be better to keep those separate.TravKoolBreeze (talk) 12:06, 12 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have to disagree on merging the articles; the lineups will remain separate for the forseeable future. In addition, there are a number of channels that are and will remain exclusive to XM or Sirius for now. This may change, but no announcement has been made and no date has been set for this to take place. My suggestion is to make the changes that reflect the current state of affairs on XM and deal with any sort of merging of the lists at a later date. --Mhking (talk) 16:18, 12 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I thought Sirius wouldn't change until later; I stand corrected -- Sirius released changed channel info this morning [1] But the lineups are still different enough that they need to have separate articles IMO. --Mhking (talk) 16:22, 12 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed, it's the same channels, not the same line up. We don't combine List of DirecTV channels, List of DISH Network Channels, List of Verizon FiOS channels etc even though they carry the same channels. Throw in the availability of Sirius and XM on Directv and Dish, and that makes the list even more cluttered and harder to read, even if it is alphabetical. User:MrMarkTaylor What's that?/What I Do/Feed My Box 16:38, 12 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well direct and dish are not one in the same company, but since the two services still have different lineups, I now think we can keep the two articles separate. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.151.166.5 (talk) 19:57, 12 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If we are going to come to a conclusion on what to do, we should make this decision soon. The faster we come to one, the better we have the article, merged or not, organized in a tidy fashion. I guess my official stance is a present vote since I would support either idea. TravKoolBreeze (talk) 04:20, 13 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Telus, XM Radio Canada, and the merged channels[edit]

Does anyone know any information on Telus phones to see if they have updated their offerings for XM Radio Mobile? Both the XM Radio Canada and the Telus site don't have any information on the merged SiriusXM channels. TravKoolBreeze (talk) 16:08, 16 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable nonfree image use[edit]

Several nonfree images (such as the Parental Advisory sticker and "XMHD" logo) were used here to mark list items. This type of use is not an appropriate use of nonfree images, as it fails criterion #1 of the nonfree image use requirements—it is replaceable by a simple text description. Please ensure that only free images are used within the list, and that text or a free image is used in place of any nonfree image. Seraphimblade Talk to me 05:05, 17 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

List of XM Satellite Radio channelsList of Sirius XM Radio channelsVchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 17:03, 4 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

With the channel alignment coming, I think it's time to start thinking of a combined list titled List of Sirius XM Radio channels. Most channels will be aligned on both services, but a few will not, so I'm trying to come up with a happy solution for a combined list. Since there are still channels that don't align, all relating to sports play-by-play and Best of XM, it's tough to choose which side of the platform to go with. Another solution would be alphabetizing the channels instead of going by numbers. If anyone's got suggestions, toss them in. --Tv's emory (talk) 06:31, 26 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

After weighing options, if I had to pick a number set to base it on, I'd probably want to use XM's numbers, since they contain more channels and their numbers fit better in the slots. For example, The Virus on XM is on 105 next door to the other entertainment channels, but on Sirius it's on 206. --Tv's emory (talk) 06:49, 26 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

That's what I was thinking too. [...] My first thought was to put everything here and redirect the Sirius list, and then move this article to a new title.Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 17:03, 4 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose / Speedy close this is a merger proposal, not a move proposal. Just make a new page. I fail to see why you want XM history to be kept at the new XM/Sirius list, when Sirius is the survivor, and therefore, it is inappropriate to move XM history. Making a new list with a new history is the most sensible option, instead of moving one of the histories. Merge notes will point to the histories of the two lists that went into the new list. 184.144.163.181 (talk) 20:05, 7 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support I don't see where Sirius gets to be the survivor at all. I admit that when I was told where the new channels would be, I was given a link to the XM channel list. Either way, to present the new information simply requires supplementing what is already here with what is in the List of Sirius Satellite Radio channels. And as I said below, why should any history be deleted from anything? Then people won't know where to find it.Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 18:11, 8 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment It looks like no one supports the merger except Tv's emory, who hasn't been back, and me. Someone did do a lot of work on the other list, which is what I was trying to prevent, but it's not absolutely necessary to have just one list, even if a lot of the information is duplicated. The trivia would be an additional complication.Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 19:02, 13 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment I'm thinking of dropping the proposal. Someone else did the work on the Sirius article, which I was hoping to prevent. The trivia in the right column would probably be appropriate here but it would clutter the list. Plus there are enough differences between XM and Sirius that maybe it would be easier to use the two separate lists.Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 15:27, 21 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Efforts to update this list[edit]

I'm going to try to realign this list today to the extent I can (all I'm going to do is reorder what's here by number), and I already changed many of the XM channel numbers earlier. Someone else came along aand reverted me in a couple of cases, which is what I feared would happen once I realized I had done it early. Others seem to be working on the individual articles so maybe I don't need to do as much as I thought.Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 17:03, 4 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I got hung up on the navboxes. Sorry, but I didn't even come close to reordering the list today. Anyone want to do the rest?Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 20:52, 4 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I got all the music channels done but none of the talk channels.Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 22:15, 4 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Here's what I've been working on. I haven't had time to finish it, but I've hit a couple brick walls with the different channels. Also there's the Canadian streaming issue, but it sounds like that will fix itself soon. I've got more in my sandbox. --Tv's emory (talk) 05:51, 5 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Okay. Should I continue adding the new numbers or will that not help you anyway?Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 17:56, 5 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

So I've finished all the channels except the ones above 170 under sports and the traffic channels (which I wasn't sure belonged in the navbox, and that's where I got the numbers from today), along with that last section with Sirius exclusive channels which I don't even know about. Since I didn't get a response from you, I'm hoping my work wasn't all for nothing. You seem to want to reformat the list, but I was sort of hoping all that trivia would stay around. I didn't bother with previous channel numbers since pretty much everyone changed. I also didn't touch the URLs because that would just take time.Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 20:51, 5 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
A possible complication. I found this pdf with Sirius channels (meanwhile, the pdf I found last week for XM and someone else's pdf for Sirius gave me 404 errors) and Oprah's channel is 204, while the ViRUS is 206. Plus there are a bunch of other channels like an all-Neil Diamond channel that didn't appear on the other list. I'm not sure what to do at this point, although no one has touched the Sirius list yet, beyond minor fixes.Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 20:09, 6 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know what I did, but it can't be fixed. It's where the Family and health channels are. I did some additions to what's here but it's not ready.Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 19:00, 10 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I fixed it later. I also checked the URLs and which channels are different on Sirius so we can merge the two lists, but only for those channels I've been able to find so far. If you find any URLs that don't work it means I haven't figured out the URL or verified the Xirius number (or even the XM number). We're not finished.Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 15:50, 12 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Repeating: WE'RE not finished. I've observed a handful of contributions. We need to verify channel numbers for the sports play-by-play and traffic channels. I suppose I COULD do it at home, but I make a point of not going to web sites other than a select few.Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 17:45, 12 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Also, we have some Sirius channels I've never heard of that aren't in this list yet. We still have to figure out what content is different in order to merge.Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 17:50, 12 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
To simlify the merge process, I decided to follow what has been done with XM: I split the part of List of Sirius Satellite Radio channels which, for XM, is its own list. The new list is Sirius Satellite Radio channel history‎. So when/if the larger list changes to a redirect, that content won't have to go anywhere.Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 18:35, 12 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Merger of two existing articles into one new one[edit]

Comment Okay, I cannot take credit for that new merger proposal. I did not suggest a merge of this article, but rather a move after all the necessary information from both articles is put here. I'm not sure about the proper action to take, but I proposed a MOVE, not a MERGER.Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 15:20, 7 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

There are merger templates on the articles, AND the name of this section is "MERGER", so I was *NOT* the one proposing a merger. Further all the discussion is about MERGING the articles together. Clearly this is NOT a move proposal. 184.144.163.181 (talk) 20:03, 7 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I proposed a merger using the existing information here, with the Sirius information added. Essentially, that's keeping the same list but with a name change, which is a move. Actually, I didn't know you could propose merging two separate lists like that, but the end result will be so similar to what is here now, I don't see why that shouldn't be just a move. . I would like to see all the historical information kept, not put in the history somewhere where people won't know how to find it. Why should Wikipedia only have current information for everything? I'm all the time seeing people treat radio station articles as if they should only have current information, deleting the old format when they add the new one. That's not useful at all. You may be right that a list doesn't have to have all this detail, but I see the list as being useful as it is now.Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 18:07, 8 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
To 184.144.163.181--What you're saying now is what you should have said when you replaced the template. My proposal was just one way of doing things, but after reading that template carefully, it makes no sense at all. I don't know whether it wasn't done right, but I don't see how the proposal as worded can ever take place.Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 18:19, 8 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Could something like this possibly work? Shark96z (talk · contribs) 20:29, 19 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This article has been pretty much abandoned[edit]

If no one wants to merge anything, I sure don't. It was proposed and then the person who proposed it disappeared. I updated some channel numbers and have no idea how to deal with the duplicates.Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 18:38, 28 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Internet-only channels[edit]

Having noted the deletion of ch. 62 from the satellite broadcast, I then noticed there is a section at the bottom for internet-only channels, including some that have previously been on satellite (and could be again). Given the check-box format which makes it easy to see which channels are available which way, and to make changes each way without moving channel listings between sections, it would seem to make sense to reincorporate these listings into the main table. "Internet only" isn't an analogous category to the rest. Spark240 (talk) 18:12, 20 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Possible deletion of this article[edit]

Per discussions at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of AT&T U-verse channels and at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Television#Discussion about channel lineups in general, this article is probably also subject to deletion under a similar rationale. Just so ya know. --Chaswmsday (talk) 17:42, 1 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
