Style poll

Let me pose a question. As a longtime editor of the Accidents and incidents involving military aircraft, I have, by training, implemented a certain style on the article, including the descriptive header on how data is presented. I have been placing aircraft names: ie. "Enola Gay", "Memphis Belle", et cetera, in quotation marks.

I observe, however, that on many related link pages, aircraft crew nicknames are rendered in italics.

Should this be the style ? Is this style ?

Airplane Crash Coventry CT May 30, 1943

On May 30, 1943 a military aircraft crashed in Coventry CT after the pilot bailed out. It was P-38 or a plane like it. I have some pieces of the plane still including a bullet shell. I can remember it very well. Can't find it on your list. Must be a record as Pilot was injured. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.204.13.230 (talk) 20:45, 11 August 2012 (UTC)

Sorry for long for a response. There were thousands of military crashes during the late unpleasantness, many from combat, even more for training (the majority of crew fatalities, actually), and this list cannot be in any way claim to be comprehensive. Only documented mostly non-combat incidents are listed here. If you can document the crash with a reference, you are welcome to add it. Candidate for inclusion

Is this B-17 loss an accident or not. The a/c was lost on ops, but not due to enemy action. Mjroots (talk) 21:27, 19 November 2013 (UTC)

Glenn Miller

I have raised a citation need against the statement that his plane was brought down by jettisoned RAF bombs and that the incident was apparently witnessed by a navigator. It deserves some attribution, considering much has been written about his disappearance. The details are not mentioned in his Wikipedia biography, beyond a cited statement indicating the theory was discredited by a plane spotter's log indicating Miller's plane was heading away from the dropping zone.Cloptonson (talk) 09:37, 19 September 2015 (UTC)

"Werke nummer" vs. Werksnummer

Article uses "Werke nummer" for factory numbers of German aircraft from top to bottom, "Werknummer" is the correct term. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.187.99.105 (talk) 19:26, 14 November 2016 (UTC)
