Actually, only the current-inventory aircraft are listed on that page, not the retired aircraft. I do agree that there needs to be some more explicit convention on what inventory info gets put in a list vs. the main article. Askari Mark (Talk) 18:15, 5 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm working on an improved version of this list article, along the lines of the List of aircraft of Argentine Naval Aviation, and agree that only current "inventory" should be in the ArgAF article. Regards, DPdH (talk) 05:46, 17 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

As a first step, I removed distinction between "Active" and "Retired" in this list, given that the current inventory is already in the ArgAF wikiarticle. This should facilitate updating both lists. Regards, DPdH (talk) 16:52, 17 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted prototype entries[edit]

Please note that I've removed these three links in the category "Transport":

* FMA IAe 30 Ñancú 
* FMA IAe 27 Pulqui I 
* FMA IAe 33 Pulqui II

because of the following reasons:
1- the aircraft listed are "Fighters", not "Transports";
2- all three were just prototypes, neither entered operational service;
3- these aircraft are from the period late 40's to late 50's (early 60's in the case of the "Pulqui II") already in a list of aircraft designed/built at the "FMA", and readers could be confused when reading this list under the current title.

My recommendation is that there should be an a list of current aircraft (the one under "Argentine Air Force" mentioned above), and a different one of retired/historic aircraft (in a specific article). Eventually a list of prototypes and projects can also be included, although it should fit better . Maybe all these should be referenced together under this title, ot in a specific Category. In this way potential inconsistencies could be avoided, and it should be easier to reference. I can help with this task, if the initial editor of this article agrees.

Additionally the prefix "FMA" is incorrect, the correct one is "IAe". FMA means "Fabrica Militar de Aviones" (Military Aircraft Factory), while "IAe" which means "Instituto Aerotecnico" (AeroTechnical Institute) is the correct one for the period mentioned (1940-1960). Please see details in article about "FMA".

NOTE: there are already articles/stubs for the three aircraft mentioned, all designed and built in Argentina by the "FMA" or its predecessor "IAe".

Contents of section "Retired Argentine military aircraft" are incomplete[edit]

Hi all, as far as I know this section is quite incomplete at this moment. I'll try to add more entries, as well as sources to support whatever I add to the list (which initially will be based on what I remember having read... not very encyclopedic, I'm afraid!). Found a "quite complete" list in a (IMHO) reputable website.[edit]

Hi, today I've found an up-to-date, quite comprehensive, list of current and former aircraft operated by the Argentine Air Force (and its predecessor, the Army Air Corps/Force btw. 1912-45) in Aeromilitaria, an argentine website focused in argentinian military aviation. AFAIK, the compiler is a well-known argentine "aero-" historian (Carlos Ay).
I'll do my best to update this wikilist based on the one found, but it'll take me some time to finalize that...

There's something wrong[edit]

Someone forgot the FMA IA 63 Pampa (double function: advanced trainer and light attack). I'll put it in the list. Furthermore, I've got a doubt about the Super Etendard figher, are they still in the Argentine Navy or as it has no aircraft carriers they could be considered into the Argentine Air Force?

Article improvement[edit]

Hi all, just for visibility, I've started improving this list-article with the goal of including "all" the aircraft and helicopters used by the Argentine Air Force (since 1945) and its predecessor the Army Aviation Service (1912-1945). I started by rationalizing the Section headers, and now I'm adding missing entries using an online source as I don't have access (yet!) to the book mentioned in "Further Reading". After completing the list, I'll add some images already available in "Commons" (ideally from the time when the aircradt was in service). Thanks to all who contributed to expanding this article in the last day! As now there are different sources used, I'll cross-check those available to me, to identify any discrepancies in either types or quantities. IMHO, the definitive source would be the book Fuerza Aérea Argentina: Guía de Aeronaves Militares, 1912-2006 (Amores Oliver, Eduardo Juan (2007), Spanish, ISBN 9789872408602) which has been piblished by the Argentine Air Force itself... New tabular format - better than previous?[edit]

Hi Wikipedians, this article has been converted to a tabular format just 2 days ago, and I'm unsure in its current form adds value compared to the previous, simpler plain list form. In addition some new information has been added of which I can't confirm is correct, also some mistakes related to the classification of each aircraft.
