2020s[edit]

There are film with release dates in 2020 and 2021 including The Loud House Moive and The Boss Baby 2 for example can we add them or make a new page?82.38.157.176 (talk) 13:41, 6 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Distributors[edit]

Regarding which distributors to list: I think it makes more sense to list the distributor from the original theatrical release, since they're more responsible for a film's grosses than a later owner.

Davide palladini said in this edit, But in that way, most people would be confused, they may think DreamWorks films weren't Universal films. But when they were originally released, most of them weren't Universal films. And I doubt that most people are that interested in who currently owns a film; if they are, they can go to the specific film's article. If you feel strongly about this, maybe add a note saying that the film was later acquired by Universal when they bought DWA. Trivialist (talk) 10:05, 3 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

So, anyway, this again. Other film lists don't include current owners/distributors, and including them here is unnecessarily confusing. For example, Ice Age is listed as a Disney film, when (1) Disney didn't originally release it, and (2) Disney isn't the one that earned the money from its release. Many editors are fixated on ownership details of films, but please remember that this is a general encyclopedia, and a general list of films is not the place to go into such detail anyway. Lead for "List of highest grossing animated feature films of the 2010's"[edit]

Currently this section has a lead that specifies movies that have earned "more than 1.2 billion dollars at the box office", both @Trivialist: and I have questioned why such an specific quantity like 1.2 billion dollars is used. I'd suggest a more general quantity such as a billion dollars, or maybe just make it clear which films were "the three highest-grossing films of the decade" instead of being this specific. -Gouleg (Talk • Contribs) 13:27, 11 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Well, there is a reason to include these three: they were examples. That's an encyclopedia online and this page should be useful, when you want to see a film in a chronolgical order of studio or company. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Davide palladini (talk • contribs)

@Davide palladini: If the reader wanted to see the list of films a studio has released in chronological order they'd go to the studio's article page (or List of films article if they have one); a List of highest-grossing films does not present films in chronological order —as the title implies— they are sorted by box office gross (tables can have an option to be sortable in chronological order if they're sortable tables). As Trivialist argues, what is the point of having an excerpt of the three highest grossing animated films if they can read more over at the article? -Gouleg (Talk • Contribs) 14:03, 14 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
