This page is a replica of the Scientific Name column in the List of freshwater aquarium fish species. The fish listed here but not there should be added to the List of freshwater aquarium fish species and this page should be deleted.--HighFlyingFish (talk) 00:50, 9 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • I feel ambivalently about it. I only realized yesterday that this page exists, and I have to admit that my initial reaction was to wonder why it does exist. You do make a valid point about the redundancy. On the other hand, nothing is harmed by having two lists. More specifically, this list does offer a somewhat greater ability to search by Latin name—I can easily imagine a reader who knows the Latin name but not anything else, and who finds it useful to use a list in this format to find more information. There is also the issue of whether any species listed here (I haven't looked) might better go to the lists of marine or brackish species. --Tryptofish (talk) 16:19, 9 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, I agree that the list should not be merged, because it could be easier for some readers to use.--HighFlyingFish (talk) 22:19, 9 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Gyrinochelius is replaced with Gyrochelius[edit]

The spot where the link to the genus Gyrinochelius is supposed to be is actually Gyrochelius, which is a genus of butterflies. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.19.63.105 (talk) 05:07, 23 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
