Epinecrophylla haematonota split[edit]

On 27 October 2015 the SACC accepted Proposal 589A, the split of Epinecrophylla haematonota (stipple-throated antwren) into E. haematonota, E. amazonica, and E. pyrrhonota. Proposal 589B, to also split E. dentei from the complex, was not accepted. Concurrently Proposal 590, to relegate the existing E. fjeldsaai to be a subspecies of E. haematonota was rejected. However, the split has not been implemented because Proposal 696X, which assigns English names to the four species, has not completed the voting process. Clements has implemented the split and assigned English names. However, those names are not the leading contenders in the SACC proposal, which offers two possible slates, and they stand a good chance of changing after the SACC finishes voting.

Therefore it is premature to apply the split of E. haematonata (Clements "rufous-backed", SACC's "stipple-throated" antwren) on pages which use the official SACC list as their source.

July 29, 2020 revisions[edit]

This update performed the following:

Change the English names of families to those used by SACC.
Replace Festive coquette with Butterfly coquette (Lophornis verreauxii) in Hummingbirds.
Add Utcubamba tapaculo (Scytalopus intermedius), Loja tapaculo (Scytalopus androstictus), Ampay tapaculo (Scytalopus whitneyi), Jalca tapaculo (Scytalopus frankeae), and White-winged tapaculo (Scytalopus krabbei).
Replace Tawny-throated leaftosser with South American leaftosser (Sclerurus obscurior) in Ovenbirds.
Revise the genus of Golden-rumped euphonia in Finches.
Revise the sequence of species in genera Euphonia and Chlorophonia in Finches.
Revise the genus of Blue-and-yellow tanager.
Revise references, counts, and text to reflect these changes.

December 14, 2020 revision[edit]

This revision performed the following per the SACC:

Assign the former Amazilia chionogaster and A. viridicauda to a new genus (Hummingbirds).
Merge southern caracara into crested caracara (Falcons).
Revise the sequence of Ara macaws (New World and African parrots).
Finalize the split of Thamnistes rufescens from T. anabatinus by replacing the latter with the former (Antbirds).
Add an antbird species.
Add a note to a manakin species.
Revise the sequence of Lipaugus species (Cotingas).
Revise references, counts, and text to reflect the above.

Split chinchipe spinetail from necklaced spinetail in Ovenbirds.
Revise the two genera in Tyrant flycatchers.
Replace spotted nightingale-thrush with speckled nightingale-thrush in Thrushes.
Revise the common name of Idiopsar speculifera in Tanagers.

Revise the English name and specific epithet of emerald toucanet (toucans).
Revise the specific epithet of curl-crested aracari (toucans).
Add a species, revise an English name, and revise the sequence of species in genus Forpus (New World parrots).
Revise the sequence of species in genus Scytalopus (tapaculos).
Revise the English name of Idiopsar brachyurus (tanagers).

The following revisions are made to reflect the August 24, 2021 update by the South American Classification Committee of the American Ornithological Society.

Revise the English name of Gallinago paraguaiae.
Replace Herpsilochmus rufimarginatus with rufous-margined antwren Herpsilochmus frater.
Revise the English name of Euscarthmus meloryphus and add fulvous-faced scrub-tyrant Euscarthmus fulviceps.
Add chivi vireo Vireo chivi.
Delete the hyphens from mountain-tanagers.
Revise text, counts, and references accordingly.
