Requested move 19 November 2018[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: Consensus to move to the original nomination's new name, therefore, moved. There is one vote for keeping the current page name, but this is already covered (but could be expanded) in United States House of Representatives Republican Conference. The other votes are for moving the page, with one vote preferring the upper case "chairman". Because of MOS:JOBTITLES the lowercase version is preferred in this case. Chairman of the House Republican ConferenceList of chairmen of the House Republican Conference – If the “article” is indeed a list, its title should reflect that. 205.174.115.253 (talk) 18:36, 19 November 2018 (UTC)--Relisted.Ammarpad (talk) 07:11, 27 November 2018 (UTC) --Relisting. IffyChat -- 09:25, 5 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Chair v. Chairman[edit]

The House GOP website (which has not been updated for the new Congress) describes Rodgers' position as "Chair" of the conference, not "Chairman." [1] House GOP Twitter also uses "Chair", though this may be due to character constraints. [2] The House history website continues to use "Chairman" on its history page, but NPR refers to Liz Cheney as the conference's new "Chairwoman". [3] [4] Since the last two chairs have been women, and the GOP website and Twitter seem to endorse the gender-neutral "Chair", it seems like a change to "Chair" or "chair" rather than "chairman" might be appropriate.
