Merger proposal[edit]

This list has a strong overlap with the list found in the article consumer organization. The latter article is little more than a list of consumer organizations, with some info about the history and purpose of such organizations, and also a list of consumer magazines. I don't have a strong preference as to whether that list should be moved here, or this list should be integrated there, but it's clear these texts are largely duplicates. Not sure. @Nederlandse Leeuw: I feel that many users dislike expanding list articles with readable text. It is easy for me to agree to merge the two lists into one article. At the same time, I think that "consumer organization" could stand as its own article.
At the same time it is difficult to access much information about the concept of a consumer organization. The text on this concept is mostly in paper books and not easy to access through digital publications. I think that we could have a short Wikipedia article called "consumer organization" which cites maybe 5 paper books or behind-the-paywall journals, and maybe it could be 10 sentences long. Beyond that there is a barrier to expanding such an article. Some Wiki editors say that a short article like that should be at the top of a long and messy list. I prefer to not put lists in front of typical readers who are not asking to see a list article. If there is a merge I suppose that "list of consumer organizations" is best. Thoughts from anyone else? Closing, given the opposition, no real support, and discussion stale for more than a year. Klbrain (talk) 20:41, 14 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
