Belarus[edit]

Data for all countries are supposed to be listed in millions USD, but for Belarus it appears to be in BYN, which makes the number listed twice as high. My suspicion is that for whatever reason the data on the CIA factbook page was mistakenly listed in Belarusian roubles, and this mistake was later propagated across many websites including Wikipedia. The official data available on the website of the Belarusian Tax and Duties Ministry also confirm that the numbers never approached USD20 billion in any year, let alone 2017 [1]. There is no English language version of this page, but official press releases in English also confirm that (in 2020 the budget revenue was expected to reach BYN24.4 billion [2]). 178.127.243.56 (talk) 13:47, 4 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Russia[edit]

Only federal budget given. The whole budget is more than 500 bln — Preceding unsigned comment added by Petr0vich`13 (talkcontribs) 03:08, 10 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Iran[edit]

Iran has two different numbers(2010 place 9 and 2009 place 32). And the number for 2010 ist bigger than their GDP. Could be Spain. But they do not have a balanced budget. ;) 00:48, 15 April 2011 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.185.225.30 (talk)

Update[edit]

Numbers of Finlands revenue and expenditure were totally wrong. I corrected them according to the CIA world fact book. But I didnt know how to change the order of the countries... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.181.6.35 (talk) 21:19, 16 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed. The whole list needs update, perhaps I'll make it sometime later.Greyhood (talk) 21:38, 16 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

brazil is not in the list[edit]

you forgot brazil. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 189.122.248.162 (talk) 05:45, 26 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Added Brazil to the list using official data from the Brazilian Government ([3]). Limongi (talk) 21:58, 4 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Hi, I changed the deficit figure. It said -80, when the actual deficit is -79.6K MDD. This is the result of Revenues - Expenses (354.8K-434.4K). ~~ —Preceding unsigned comment added by 200.79.47.238 (talk) 20:38, 20 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Historical value only?[edit]

2008 was a fine year, in 2009 it all went into shits. Those who had double-digit surpluses are now deep in the red. Perhaps it makes sense to add a parallel set of columns for 2009, so that the rosy 2008 estimates don't mislead anyone. NVO (talk) 21:37, 23 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • When CIA updates budget info for 2009 I'll make update. But you can do it now, if you have the data for 2009, which is unlikely. Because of the crisis, many budgets were restructured or in the process of restructuring. For example, the Russian budget for 2009 was finalized and signed by the President only in the end of April. Greyhood (talk) 10:46, 24 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
    • BTW, which budgets are they presenting on the linked page - consolidated? central govt's? NVO (talk) 12:35, 24 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
      • It is not specified, except for Ukraine. CIA note for Budget entry: "This entry includes revenues, expenditures, and capital expenditures. These figures are calculated on an exchange rate basis, i.e., not in purchasing power parity (PPP) terms". [4] Greyhood (talk) 13:37, 24 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Question[edit]

Why are the revenues of china lesser than the revenues of france or germany while the gdp of china is higher ? Polylepsis (talk) 17:03, 3 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Likely, because of the following reasons:
1) here the figures are given in the nominal evaluation, not PPP, and in nominal terms China's GDP is not so much higher than that of France or Germany;
2)Tax revenue as percentage of GDP in China is about 2.5 times less than in France or Germany (17.0% vs 46.1% and 40.6%). Greyhood (talk) 19:35, 3 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
OK, thank you Polylepsis (talk) 12:28, 4 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There is an error which I dont know how to fix[edit]

The column of ranks does not match with any sortable column ranks. Could some one please fix it?--119.153.9.184 (talk) 01:53, 5 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

New budget (Philippines)[edit]

The current budget for the Philippines has raised from US$26 billion to US$37 billion. [5] Edit request for budget (Philippines) Sir Jazer 13 (talk) 12:42, 5 January 2011 (UTC) How do you edit the article?[reply]

The numbers and the ranking are completely out of whack[edit]

The table cites the CIA World Factbook as its source, but the numbers do not match and neither does the ranking. Someone should fix this. (1tephania (talk) 04:02, 29 January 2011 (UTC))[reply]

I made some changes. Countries from rank 1 to 17 now show the correct numbers according to the CIA World Factbook, link provided in the sources section. I didn't touch the numbers for Germany and France since they weren't off by material amount. Before, the table had Saudi Arabia as the 15th largest revenue-collecting country when the numbers were anything but, and even those numbers were wrong... (1tephania (talk) 04:43, 29 January 2011 (UTC))[reply]

Mark inclomplete budgets or put them in a seperate table[edit]

The budgets of the USA and Mexico (and maybe others?) are the federal budgets not including the states. I propose to color these cells in the table in red to clearly mark it. Or maybe even put them in a separate table as that is an unfair/illogical/not useful comparison.Nico (talk) 07:23, 7 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Or even better add the budget and deficits of the states. I was searching for a list of the budgets/deficits/debts and of the states of the USA but I couldn't find it. Not on Wiki nor somewhere else. Nico (talk) 07:26, 7 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Spain is missing[edit]

hello Spain is not on the list. I don't know how to edit it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.0.62.239 (talk) 00:27, 11 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Zimbabwe[edit]

Have corrected/updated Zimbabwe's budget. Both sides of the budget for Zimbabwe were put at a fraction of a million dollars (revenue 0.1537, expenditure 0.1793) - even for 2008 (pre-coalition) that is just insanely wrong, surely? The CIA world factbook has 2.25 billion for 2010 as well. I know the hyperinflation beggars belief, but it's much more complicated than that. Many Zimbabweans are still rich, other currencies have longed been used in practice (the ZImbabwe dollar being no more than a symbolic joke for ages), the government was still as money-grabbing, and most members of the cabinet have always got much more than that personally.

North Korea[edit]

Isn't there a problem here with the budget of North Korea? I suppose three order of magnitude too high... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.136.25.82 (talk) 07:51, 9 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Apples and Oranges[edit]

The CIA data clearly only includes data for federal spending with the United States, but many other countries have much more centralized governments when it comes to spending, which significantly underestimates the amount of government spending in the USA. We should include all government spending for all levels with every country so they are easily comparable. To compare without this is invalid.

Secondly, we should include a column for % of GDP, and another one for spending per capita to make them easier to compare once our data is correct. Stidmatt (talk) 05:13, 13 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Deficit/Surplus data are wrong.[edit]

Deficit/Surplus data are so wrong I want yo cry: please someone remove them. France does not have THAT deficit. Barjimoa (talk) 16:58, 30 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Anguilla[edit]

Anguilla is incorrectly ranked 29th in the list, even though its governmental expenditure is under $100m. Might it be possibly for someone to rectify this? 2A02:C7D:51AC:5000:89DB:E00E:91CB:85A6 (talk) 19:11, 29 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

USA[edit]

listed in millions of USD the income of the united states is said to be 336000000 on the wiki side. {thats 336 trillion} while the US is generally said to be at 3.8 trillion annually. also sorting by budget is broken. just does not work. whole thing needs redone if you ask me. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.126.114.72 (talk) 00:35, 24 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

German budget mismatch[edit]

since [1] the budget for Germany seems to be vastly inflated, I can't retrieve the original source, the current source: [2] lists different values.

India[edit]

It's just a question, but there's a problem with India, right?

The government budget is bigger than the GDP. Otherwise I find "Rs 22,83,713 crore" in this article: https://prsindia.org/budgets/parliament/union-budget-2022-23-analysis. Which is more like 277 billion dollar if I'm right. Sebponti (talk) 20:42, 10 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
