What is the "Rate" and the "Count"? can the columns clarify or have an explanation above?

Suicides[edit]

Could this list suicides, too. Half of all firearm deaths in America are suicides. That would be awesome, thanks. 71.214.39.166 (talk) 03:49, 17 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I thought it was 2/3. Also, 13,000 guns in the US? Or homicides... per year? which year? You can make an account for yourself for free, not hard, and very little spam, I got 2 emails last year, and one was thanking me for contributions. OsamaBinLogin (talk) 22:34, 18 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Made a graph of gun ownership vs total gun-related deaths in selected countries (such that USA stands far from others, can't upload it since I've got no account. also, made a graph of deaths per gun ownership from this list http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_firearm-related_death_rate In this, USA doesn't stand out from the rest of the western world countries as much, so I'd say in a western world the increase in gun ownership increases deaths by guns directly proportionally. checking out also the amount of guns per deaths it appears like US people are not particularly fond of using their guns on others or themselves, but only slightly behind countries like India, Italy, Austria, France. Even such generally-considered-safe countries such as Greece, Portugal and Chile are behind US in this metric. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.76.36.24 (talk) 07:16, 3 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

link?[edit]

For the life of me, I can't see the reason for this page unless a link is made by adding a column for homicides *by firearms*. Just listing firearm ownership and overall homicide rates seems to suggest that murder by all methods (e.g., stabbing, drowning, choking) is somehow connected to the number of firearms in the country. Adding extra columns for homicides by firearm and percentage of homicides by firearm would actually make a useful page, but at the moment it's meaningless. Grutness...wha? 02:18, 2 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Rate per ... what?[edit]

Per 100,000 population? Per 10,000? Per 100? Per gun? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.95.43.249 (talk) 22:51, 21 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The data is all wrong[edit]

It is mentioned that the table was created by combining data from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Number_of_guns_per_capita_by_country (which is no longer available and automatically redirected to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Estimated_number_of_civilian_guns_per_capita_by_country) and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_intentional_homicide_rate . However, the data is all wrong which leads to confusion for those who are reading this table only. This page is either to be removed or completely renewed.

Missing Data[edit]

Where is the rate for the U.K. or England, Ireland, Wales, and Scotland it you break them out individually?! 2607:FB91:160E:3019:D83B:1872:93D1:6222 (talk) 18:00, 12 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
