Climate change and Natural Disaster Risk[edit]

The production of these statistics is VERY worthwhile (as it provides an indication of such risks 'on the ground'). However, there is always more work to be done in relation to the production of such statistics. In particular, is there a PROJECTED DISASTER RISK for countries which takes into account projected Climate change risks? I think that having some risk projections that go far into the future (perhaps even 60-80 years into the future) would help those who are currently of young age to get an idea of what the planet's living conditions might be like by the time they are old people (assuming they live that long). A MAP of Natural Disaster risk, together with climate change projections (on a separate map) would also be good.

Attempting to someone marry Natural Disaster Risk with Political Stability indicators to create a combined risk measure would also probably be worthwhile (though, one imagines, it might be too difficult to do).

That would be great, but I doubt the people who made this here are reading it. You should contact them about it. Alex of Canada (talk) 23:21, 16 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I am searching for the World Risk Index for Taiwan/Formosa/Republic of China, but it is not listed in the table; nor is it listed at the end for "not included." I know there are many disaster research institutes on the island, and that there are major natural disasters there. Therefore it should appear among the listed rankings. I can imagine that PRC editors or readers object, but unless the data for Taiwan is given, then the article is not accurate or useful to the rest of the world. Without taking sides about the sovereignty of PRC or the sovereignty of ROC, how can the facts of our shared world be communicated under the policies of wikimedia parent organization? --Gpwitteveen (talk) 07:18, 2 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Issues with table[edit]

There are a number of issues with this table, including:

  • The boundaries between the various risk categories should be stated, and the allocations of colours should then be checked against those boundaries. There are various inconsistencies at the moment.
  • The use of an orangey red for "medium risk" is not appropriate.
  • The use of white lettering on a light green background does not provide enough contrast.
  • What is the basis of the ordering, as indicated by the numbers in the left hand column?---Ehrenkater (talk) 16:21, 14 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
