Problems with the Spanish names[edit]

There were some problems with the Spanish names, I think the cause was the lack of knowledge of the language (no offense intended). In Spanish the letter "H" can be at the beginning of a word and there are several countries that start by "H", two of the most serious mistakes I found were "Ungría" and "Aití", the correct forms are "Hungría" and "Haití". I also found "Irac", that is not correct since the spellings aproved by the Real Academia de la Lengua Española, as well as all the other Academies for the Spanish, are "Iraq" and "Irak", I don't know where the final "c" came from.

And Falkland/Malvinas in spanish (Malvinas) and franÇais Malvines the origin of the name is from here and the first ocupation and fundational name. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.25.121.159 (talk) 17:07, 21 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Language templates[edit]

This page, and others in the series, should use the multilingual support templates, such as {{lang-fr}}. Please help to implement them. Thank you.Andy Mabbett (User:Pigsonthewing); Andy's talk; Andy's edits 17:42, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

New Discussion[edit]

A discussion has been started at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Countries/Lists of countries which could affect the inclusion criteria and title of this and other lists of countries. Editors are invited to participate. Pfainuk talk 11:46, 17 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Deletions reverted[edit]

As noted in the intro, "This article attempts to give all known alternative names for all nations, countries and sovereign states. It does not offer any opinion about what the "original", "official", "real", or "correct" name of any country is or was." So I've reverted the deletion from the article, which was made with the edit summary "Everything deleted here is eirhter because it's on twice as two different entries or football teams from some countries I have deleted can go into the Coupe De France and so belong to Franc eso should'nt really be on here at all". The nations listed have widely-used names, and the point of this article is to list how the names are expressed in different languages, and not to express an opinion on their sovereignty. Please get consensus here before resuming deletion. Filing Flunky (talk) 02:17, 19 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

England[edit]

England should be added. --87.20.69.73 (talk) 01:44, 14 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Holland should be removed[edit]

Holland (the two Hollands really) are two districts in The Netherlands in Europe and should not be on this list, as other districts of The Netherlands are not either. What think the rest of you? Sai2207 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 18:06, 30 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
