Duplication of Information[edit]

Following GoodDay's opening of dialogue with myself, and for the benefit of others, I am posting the essential information of my response here:

"When I originally created the notes' associated with Elizabeth II and the Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia several years ago (I operated under the user name of Burbridge92 at this time; see edits dated '09:47, 14 September 2012‎' and '10:22, 14 September 2012‎' for the creation of the notes) it was done to deal with the proliferation of entries for Elizabeth II (and, to a much lesser extent, Abdul Halim) that existed on the page; and this was conducted following several discussion topics that can now be seen on the Talk:Current reigning monarchs by length of reign/Archive 1 page. In short, the note for Elizabeth II was created to replace the presence of multiple entries under her name in the main table - that was the note's sole purpose. Seeing as all of Elizabeth II's entries are back its presence is futile; we don't need two comprehensive explanations' of all of Queen's reign lengths on one Wikipedia article page. I am no novice to Wikipedia protocol, and respect the importance of discussion and consensus, but this really shouldn't be something that needs to be discussed - the one thing that surprises me is that the note wasn't removed as soon as the decision to reinstate the entries was implemented. Thank you for taking the time to get in touch."

If we were to go back to having Elizabeth II entered into this article just once. Then that entry should show only the United Kingdom, with a footnote for the 15 other Commonwealth realms. Otherwise, we leave things as they currently are. GoodDay (talk) 13:51, 25 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
You're absolutely correct about the footnote. It's no longer needed, under the current layout. Therefore, I've deleted it. GoodDay (talk) 05:52, 26 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I think it's odd to list Elizabeth II so many times. Hvn0413 (talk) 14:43, 7 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps so, but she has multiple reigns & 12 of them are of different lengths. Remember this article concerns the reign of a monarch, not the monarch itself. GoodDay (talk) 14:58, 7 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Date of Ascension[edit]

Removed the date of ascension, because the news had been saying that he wasn't ascended. I should have put a ref in, but I didn't think there was a good place for it, so, my change was reverted. That would have been perfectly understandable if a citation was made, but there was only a comment stating where the source was, but I couldn't find the data. Perhaps a good citation of the constitution or something would mean we should have the date in there too? Perhaps something like displaying the date, but with a footnote stating that he hasn't yet ascended? McKay (talk) 16:48, 13 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

As I understood it, succession to the Thai throne is automatic. Bhumibol is dead, Vajiralongkorn is king. GoodDay (talk) 22:42, 13 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I'm going to have to revert, as your claim that ascension is automatic doesn't have a citation. If the guy who you say is king says he hasn't yet ascended, then shouldn't that mean he hasn't ascended, at least officially? Feel free to add a citation stating that ascension is automatic. McKay (talk) 17:14, 14 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Looks like there's nothing to be done, as it's currently commented out McKay (talk) 17:32, 14 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of sub nation state entries[edit]

There seems no logical reason to include the sub nation state entries for Maylasia or UAE. This list should only show monarchs of nation states. This keeps the list clear and understandable. Comments please. If I don't receive comments here I will boldly edit to remove these entries and adjust the lead. Thanks Robynthehode (talk) 09:34, 5 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

In agreement. GoodDay (talk) 14:44, 5 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

What happened to the flags?[edit]

The list looks quite dull, with the flag icons deleted. GoodDay (talk) 00:32, 10 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Charles III's realms should be listed in order of the realm's age[edit]

Charles III's realms should be listed in order of the 'age' of the realm, starting with "United Kingdom", then "Canada", then "Australia", then "New Zealand", etc etc. GoodDay (talk) 19:57, 26 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Seek consensus for proposed addition[edit]

@Bobbykayz: the addition to the page you're attempting, is a monarch who doesn't reign over a sovereign state. That's why he doesn't belong. Perhaps, @DrKay:, @Peter Ormond: & others may have a better knowledge of this. GoodDay (talk) 00:18, 6 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Adjustment of longest serving monarch[edit]

The longest serving monarch alive is Igwe Orizu of Nnewi, Anambra State. Started reign in 1963, 2nd June. You can do more research.

I hope I'm credited for the upcoming edit. Salvadoresq (talk) 06:04, 15 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Seems she falls under "constituent monarchs", which aren't covered in this list due to not having sovereignty, etc. 2601:408:C402:378E:4C11:AF9A:A661:514 (talk) 05:28, 31 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Queen Margrethe II abdication[edit]

Queen Margrethe II: Danish monarch announced that she will step down on January 14. Don't remove her from the list until then. 213.200.185.197 (talk) 08:13, 1 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
