Deleting "In the News" Category[edit]

I think that this is a category that should be deleted. Most all the people in the List of Assyrians have been in the News in one way or another from actors to politicians. Zayya (talk) 10:04, 2 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well think of another category for them, but don't delete them from the list. Chaldean (talk) 20:41, 2 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe a category such as "notable" Assyrians who have served in the military/air force/navy, etc. Munir Redfa can be moved to that and we include people like General Georges Sada and I'm sure there are many other notables. As for Elias Syriani and Karl Suleman, I'm not sure of the heading. Any ideas? Assyrians on death-row and criminals? I just don't know. Just the heading "In the News" is too vague. As I said, every notable Assyrian has from time to time been "In the News." Appreciate your thoughts on this. Zayya (talk) 20:54, 6 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Chaldean, Stop With Your Threats & Stop With Your Vandalism[edit]

1. I have provided vital information on many important Assyrian figures of our time. Without this information, how can others know to write articles about these people? The research is done. Allow contributors to followup. I added a complete article on Milton Malek-Yonan. You deleted his name Why? We have highly respected Assyrian political figures in Iran's Parliament who have served their nation for the past several decades. Why have you deleted their names? Why don't you allow Assyrians and non Assyrians to see this information so that they can begin to write article? We are all contributors. Who made you the ultimate decision maker and sensor of the List of Assyrians? I have painstakingly compiled the names of Assyrian athletes who participated in many Olympics. What gives you the right to delete them? I have compiled names of legitimate "published" authors who have contributed to Assyrian history and literature. Why have you deleted them? I have added an Emmy Winning Assyrian documentary filmmaker. Why have you deleted him? These articles cannot be written all by one person. But each person can contribute.

2. If your problem is that my list of names were not red tagged, then by all means help by correcting that mistake and red tag the names so that articles can be written. But don't just delete everything by reverting to your own list. This is counter productive!!!

3. I have not revised you alphabetization of the lists. The list is by first name first and I left it as such. I moved Thea Halo's name because you had not alphabetized correctly! T does not come between L and M!!! Check your list.

4. I correct spelling and you revert back.

5. There are 29 people on YOUR list without articles. Why have you not removed them?

6. Stop acting like the school yard bully by threatning to report me. This isn't your yard. Play fair or don't play at all. This is not your personal webpage. No one gets paid to do this. We all want to contribute. I can also report you for vandilisim but I rather spend my precious time working in a positive way rather than your distructive way.

We allready discovered several articles, interviews, and a youtube interview with Salma Hayek (i believe this is Chaldean as well)saying she is Assyrian Maronite. Stop hating! And erasing her name from the bulletin board. You want the links please ask I allready submitted some PROVING she is born to an Assyrian Maronite father!!!!!!!!!!

Photo needs fixing[edit]

Can someone fix the photo of Ramona Amiri? Thanks. User: Zayya 17 December 2006

Regarding the physician catagory[edit]

The are virtually hundreds of Assyrian physicians worldwide. Where do we stop? Why are physicians singled out? Why not engineers or other occupations? Maybe they should be people who have made a contribution beyond just being a physician. For example invented a medical procedure or instrument or have been awarded... User: Zayya 17 December 2006

Chaldean, you are again deleting names and entries for no aparent reason. Do not delete names that appear in different catagories. They belong and need to remain as such. You seem to be deleting people you don't like. Don't make this personal. User: Zayya 10:77:09 16 December 2006

Chaldean- STOP deleting names and entries. You are doing a "Select All" and "Pasting" your version and deleting all new entries. STOP THIS!!!

Hi,

I added the "Religious Figures" sections to this page, considering the array of Assyrian religious figures in history. Names of other Assyrian religious figures from history should be added to this list and hyperlinked.

Also, it might be a good idea to set up Lists of Assyrian patriarchs - from the Church of the East, Chaldean Catholic Church, Syriac Orthodox and Catholic churches - and link them to this page.

Also, I added another entry under "Singers" ;) .

Bret Michaels?[edit]

Hello. Just wondering if there's any source on Bret Michaels being Assyrian? Thanks. Ninos

Assyrians merged with Syrics?[edit]

It is being proposed that List of Assyrians be merged with List of Syriacs. This can only be done if they are collectively called Assyrian. Syriac refers to a religious denomination and language while Assyrian is a nationality. This move will only create a huge disagreement with no final result, EVER! 3BluePenguins 07:05, 30 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

vocabulary errors[edit]

Hi all, Syriac according to English vocabulary is a pertaining to Syria and it's language while Syrian is the inhabitant of Syria; you can check the old Webster dictionary and you'll see it (1935 edition) also you can refer to english grammar and vocabulary. While the so called syriac or syrian chuch is in fact assyrian chuch (rafar to vocabularies of assyrian language).

narsi david[edit]

Hey i think we should add narsi david because he is a famous assyrian san francisco chef. Can someone with more knowledge please start a page for him. thanks Levi Seigel (talk) 01:37, 25 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Other[edit]

I am proposing to delete the category of "Other". The people listed Narsai David, Lado Davidov, Cindy Sargon, Alfred Yaghobzadeh, Emmanuel Brikha, Oneey Mikhail, and Nenos Kako are not notable according to Wikipedia standards. Zayya 22:06, 30 January 2010 (UTC)

Proposed Merge[edit]

I've proposed to merge "List of Syriac people" into "List of Assyrians" and then rename the final article to "List of Assyrians/Syriacs". It is a waste to have two articles for the same people due to a nameconflict.--Yohanun (talk) 16:47, 12 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

List of Syriac people redirect too List of Assyrian/Syriac people[edit]

Hi I have redirect the article "list of Syriac people" too "List of Assyrian/Syriac people" we have the same people into two articles. So i have made it like the article Assyrian/Syriac people. It make no sense to put the same people into two diferent article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Elvis214 (talkcontribs) 14:49, 24 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Tag[edit]

I would be in favor of the removal of the tag that says: "The topic of this article may not meet the general notability guideline." There are other tags asking for refs, which is fine. But that tag seems to me inapplicable on its face -- the topic is clearly notable.--Epeefleche (talk) 21:34, 31 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Other[edit]

List of Assyrians In the athletes section, I'd like to correct the name of the team that Waad Hermiz played for. The team name is not the San Diego Shockers but actually the San Diego Sockers. Dreener14 (talk) 17:31, 22 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move[edit]

List of ethnic Assyrians/Chaldeans/SyriacsList of Assyrians/Chaldeans/Syriacs or List of Assyrians — Most notable person articles are titled "List of... without ethnic".--Wmdly (talk) 11:42, 12 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed Merger[edit]

I have proposed that the List of Assyrian musicians page be merged into this article. I want to know why this should or shouldn't be done. Please leave any thoughts under Talk:List of Assyrian musicians#Merger Proposal if you are opinionated one way or the other. I have left my thoughts under there as well. Thank you.
