Untitled[edit]

This is a new list created on 24 August 2007 after I edited the Fiction set in ancient Rome list and added a new movie Jupiter's Darling. It seems to me that such a list would help those looking for films partly or wholly set in the city of Rome during the Roman republic or empire. (I was one such person looking for a list or category).

If you have questions or comments, please address them here or on my talk page. If you have other films to add to the list, please help out!

Julius Caesar and Cleopatra[edit]

I'm moving these films to the Roman Republic. The Republic didn't become an Empire until Octavian became Imperator Caesar. Cleopatra died 3 years before the Republic became an Empire. Also, I'm not quite sure if the Cleopatra films should even be included. Sure her life involved dealing with Romans, but Egypt didn't become a part of Rome until after she died (her being the last Queen of Egypt of course). Which brings up the question if this article should only include films set IN Rome or include films involving Romans? If that's the case, than the articles name should be changed to something more appropriate. Opinions?JanderVK (talk) 08:13, 7 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Page name[edit]

The Eagle set in ancient Britain, as is Centurion and King Arthur. Agora is set in ancient Alexandria. Very little (if any at all) of Starz' Spartacus series is set in Rome, instead having Capua as its primary urban setting. Chances are any number of these movies that I haven't yet seen aren't actually set in ancient Rome, but in other places in or around the empire. Perhaps a better title, such as List of films set during the Roman Empire, is in order for this page? Spartan198 (talk) 21:29, 5 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Many of these productions aren't even films, such as the aforementioned "Spartacus" series. Ancient Rome in film and television perhaps? 24.149.37.233 (talk) 03:35, 19 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Post Empire Films (Bizantyum)[edit]

The 2 films named "Kampf um Rom" are set after the fall of Western Roman Empire, when East Emperor Justinian tries to reconquer Italy. I suggest the creation of a new "Bizantyum" category for tose two films
