Doubts[edit]

These are the doubts by April 2015. FkpCascais (talk) 02:49, 6 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Years?[edit]

Its confusing to read something like "2000–(2001)" for a player who actually played for the club between 1st January 2001 and 1st July 2001 (for example), it is nowhere specified what does that bracket mean, if someone played for the club between 1 July 2012 and 1 January 2013 it should have been just 2012, not (2012)–2013...for example, Albert Riera signed for one club today, it should read "Koper 2016–present", and not Koper 2015–present like now (he can't play for one team in 2015 if he signed in January 2016) 86.58.36.235 (talk) 22:00, 25 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I know, but that was the solution I found in order to point out the exact half season the player played with the club. It may not be visually the best solution, but I think it is quite obvious for everyone that (2012)–2013 means he played the 2012 part of the 2012–13 season. Another option was to use the minor option above, for instance 2012–2013. The thing is that some lists use seasons instead of years and that was the formula I prefered. That means the years would allways be displayed in pairs (as in the French Ligue 1 lists). The problem arised when a player played one half season with one club and other with another one, thus I found the solution of writing FK X (2012)–2013, FK Y 2012–(2013). The aspect of starting year being 2015 and not 2016 has to do preciselly with the fact of refering to the season rather that calendar year (since what are being played are seasons and not calendar years), that is why all players signing now start with 2015–present, because they are playing the 2015–16 season and the first year is used. Only the players signing in summer will start having 2016 as start year. What would you propose us to do? FkpCascais (talk) 22:19, 25 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Mirko Grabovac played for Primorac, Zadar and Cibalia in the 1990s, before he moved to Singapore. He only became a Singapore citizen in 2002. Therefore, I think that he should be removed from the page.Vladovivoda (talk) 11:43, 28 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

There are at least 20 more cases like him, but the list is suposed to include all foreign internationals that played in any club of former Yugoslavia neverless if before or after being naturalised. The thing is that the reader knows that Sngaporean international Mirko Grabovac played at those clubs in Croatia. FkpCascais (talk) 09:16, 30 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Split by country[edit]

Currently this list is a confusing mess, which conflates multiple current countries and their leagues. It seems better to split this article by country i.e. one article for Croatia, one for Bosnia, one for Serbia (possibly including Serbia and Montenegro, as FIFA counts Serbia as the successors to Serbia and Montenegro). There was a broad support for this (albeit from limited participants) at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football/Archive 158#List of foreign footballers in top leagues of former Yugoslavia to do some sort of split, so would be good to get a consensus for or against splitting. • support basically the consensus was already reached in the mentioned discussion. Pelmeen10 (talk) 20:45, 1 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • I confirm my support to the proposal here, as well. Oltrepier (talk) 13:04, 13 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
