I changed the top ten hedge funds ranking to "LHC Top Ten Hedge Funds Ranking" because this is only one ranking used to appeal to the popular masses for sensational effect... not "the official" ranking that would be used for any means by any investment professional in the industry — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2607:F470:6:63:8A9:E33C:D02D:E189 (talk) 19:06, 16 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Top Ten hedge funds should be based on CAGR, rather than net returns? If hedge fund A starts with $10B and turns that into $15B, that's +$5B, or 1.4% CAGR over a 30-year period, whereas if hedge fund B starts with $100MM and turns that into $2.1B, that's only +$2B, but 10.7% CAGR over the same period? This is comparing apples to oranges — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2607:F470:6:63:8A9:E33C:D02D:E189 (talk) 19:04, 16 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

JPM and GS asset management are not hedge funds..?

Updating the list[edit]

I was going to ask the original editor but they haven't been active in 4 years, but I was trying to figure out what the original source was for the top 10. Does anyone know or object if I use - http://www.investopedia.com/articles/personal-finance/011515/worlds-top-10-hedge-fund-firms.asp - for the update? Current rankings are based on 2011.--SimpleStitch (talk) 15:33, 4 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I'll update it using Institutional Investor's rankings (I think these are the most widely quoted in the media). I'm getting rid of the performance rankings, as these will change all the time and don't seem especially relevant, at least if quoted over short periods. Please let me know if anyone objects. Units[edit]

"AUM as of second quarter 2021 (in 100,000s of USD)"

That's the most ridiculous unit I've ever seen. It should be millions, billions or trillions. --200.58.135.162 (talk) 14:27, 26 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
