Merge lists[edit]

I placed a merge tag with the list of colleges by country on the Liberal arts college page. It might be a good idea to merge this list as is to the longer list of colleges - and re-organize that list by country. Or, have two parts to it, one which is alphabetical, and one which is by country. There is already a subarticle called List of liberal arts colleges in the United States.-Classicfilms 14:03, 29 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I merged the list from the liberal arts college page and reorganized this list by country. This follows a similar list,List of current and historical women's universities and colleges. Also the list of schools in the U.S. is organized by state in a similar fashion - List of American institutions of higher education. -Classicfilms 16:05, 31 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Criteria?[edit]

I have removed Tilburg University from the list. It has several undergraduate programmes, one of which is in liberal arts. The institution as a whole, however, does not have a liberal arts emphasis. It is generally concerned with business, economics and law (as the article on Tilburg explains). To be in this list, I think an institution should be focussed on the liberal arts. This would normally mean, for example, that most students study the liberal arts for at least a part of their degree. --Duncan (talk) 22:29, 17 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Follow-up a decade later[edit]

As DuncanBCS observed above nearly a decade ago, many institutions listed on this page do not appear to be liberal arts colleges, but rather large research universities. Clearer and likely stricter criteria are needed for what should be listed on this page. I have therefore tagged it with {{Disputed}}. {{u|Sdkb}}talk 01:00, 23 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
