Other airports that could be added[edit]

Here's a list of airports that could be added. The later listings are higher elevations, although still very low and within the <10m constraint of the article. Bold entries indicate additions with higher priority = airports at very low elevations, countries without representation (or where this airport is lower than an existing entry in the article), and extremely busy airports.

Saved for posterity, in case someone has some extra time and wants to add them. If you know an airport that should be here, go ahead and add it. — Molly-in-md (talk) 22:50, 27 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Checked over airports named in https://www.nytimes.com/2018/09/07/climate/airport-global-warming-kansai.html: "A quarter of the world’s 100 busiest airports are less than 10 meters, or 32 feet, above sea level, according to an analysis of data from Airports Council International and OpenFlights. Twelve of those airports — including hubs in Shanghai, Rome, San Francisco and New York — are less than 5 meters above sea level." These four areas are incorporated into the list already or are saved above for future inclusion. — Molly-in-md (talk) 19:08, 1 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Added countries. Also added bold marks to priority airports – airports at very low elevations, countries without representation (or where this airport is lower than an existing entry in the article), and extremely busy airports (per List of busiest airports by passenger traffic). — Molly-in-md (talk) 22:36, 1 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Added more airports, pulled from List of busiest airports by cargo traffic and List of busiest city airport systems by passenger traffic. — Molly-in-md (talk) 13:30, 2 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Added more airports, pulled from https://www.skyscanner.com/airports/s/airports-in-south-america.html and WP's "List of airports in...", to identify low airports in South America (including the lowest). Added airports from Central America, including the lowest there. Added low airports from the Caribbean, based on List of airports in the Caribbean plus other WP "List of airports in..." articles. — Molly-in-md (talk) 14:09, 10 January 2021 (UTC) and Molly-in-md (talk) 14:57, 11 January 2021 (UTC) and Molly-in-md (talk) 14:26, 12 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Limit[edit]

Maybe we can restrict the list to up to 4.9 meters/16 feet. There are a lot of airports at 5 to 10 meters altitude. Many cities are located at the sea, and airports have often been built along at the coast offering obstacle free flights and no residents to be affected by noise. Then they are built at least a few meters above the sea level to avoid flooding at storms, but not too high to save cost. I checked out all airports of Norway and added three having 3 m/10 ft, noticing around ten more below 10 meters/30 ft.--BIL (talk) 08:44, 8 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
