Severe factual inaccuracies[edit]

Lots of trash in the article. There are no walruses, harp seals or dolphins in Finland. ML (talk) 17:40, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, the list isn't very informative. Walruses in Finland were wanderers in Petsamo region that was lost in WWII, but there was other such mammals too that are not mentioned. Harp seals used to live in Baltic sea as ice age relicts but have been extinct in that region for thousands of years. Dolphins are wanderers in Baltic sea. Sable in Finland has been much debated. I have understood that there isn't any certainty about it. If sable is included then siberian chipmunk could be included too. There are records of them from the 18th century. Arctic fox has been a victim of hunting and climate change in Finland and is no longer present. Same goes for garden dormouse. The bat species list is incomplete.

The list doesn't mention introductions. They should be included as some of them are quite common. Species like white-tailed deer, canadian beaver, mink, muskrat, raccoon dog not to mention the basic species house mouse and brown rat and perhaps couple others too. It's a sad reminder how much human activity has an impact on nature.
