Ballistic missiles[edit]

I added back Soviet Union. While the first functional short range ballistic missile was developed in Germany, the first missile to go to orbit was developed in the Soviet Union. The Soviet program was a perfect example of a military development that went into civilian use. The original purpose of the program was 100% military. Its aim was to develop a platform that can deliver a nuclear bomb to US. After Sputnik's launch however, that was justified as merely a test, the government saw the huge propaganda benefits and started a civilian space program. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 31.210.182.171 (talk) 13:00, 2 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Nuclear Technology was mainly developed by Nazi Germany during WW2, or am I wrong?

What you might be thinking of is night vision (the Zielgerät 1229 : (http://www.achtungpanzer.com/articles/ir.htm)) and the jet engine (the Messerschmitt Me 262 : (http://www.rand.org/pubs/monograph_reports/MR1596/MR1596.appb.pdf)) which the Nazi's did invent.

Speaking of which, why are there no sources or citations on this page? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.158.125.242 (talk) 22:19, 14 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Is there an additional section for medical advances as a result of military funding/wartime experience? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.99.22.118 (talk) 20:23, 14 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestion[edit]

Could there be links to specific examples of the military inventions such as for jet engine: Messerschmitt Me 262 and Gloster Meteor? patsw (talk) 21:36, 2 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
